Glad Bergy took the surgery route instead of allowing the possibility of the hernia to get worse. Also, I didn't know Rask's groin issue was serious enough to warrant a surgery, makes his playoff performance even more impressive.

Pretty sure Rask played the entire season with that groin injury he obtained in October.

You just knew something was off with Bergy all season.

I want to know what krejci sat out games 1 and 2 with. When you see Bergy playing with this injury. And a goalie playing with a groin injury.

Krejci is in the pre game skate for game 1, then we dont see him again until game 3.

I question DK about many things but I don`t question his toughness or have felt he`s a softie. Not saying you are and I would also like to know what was ailing him but I have never viewed him as the kind of player who`d take himself out of a game for a minor issue

What amazes me is Bergeron took the most faceoffs of any guy in the league, even with missing three games.... and won 60%....with a sports hernia all year. I'm no medical expert, but given the contortions guys go through on faceoffs sometimes, that must have been painful. Oh, and he was still a Selke finalist.

Wonder how long Rask's injury had been bothering him.

Agreed. Krejci loves the game. I remember when he was at the Olympics and they asked him what he was going to do there. "Watch all the hockey games," he said.

Being nosy, I googled around for some info. It looks like Bergy's doctors are based in U Mass in Worcester. Probably not mentioned because it's not Tufts, the "official medical team of the Bruins", or what have you. Or maybe it's MGH? I'm not sure...I seem to remember a lot of Tufts advertising, but MGH is the closest to the Garden, and I'm 90% sure that's where a game-injured player would likely wind up.

Rask's situation is a little odder - the doc listed in the press release is in at MGH, which makes sense location-wise. But according to a Boston.com article (https://www.boston.com/culture/heal...tons-professional-athletes-hes-always-on-call), he "just does knees and shoulders". If it's a groin pull...I don't know. Maybe he was on the surgical team with another doc?

Watch him lose out on the Selke because consistent greatness is boring.

I really want to be "that guy" and bring quotes from the Rask thread where guys ripped into him for his supposed lack of willingness to play through illnesses/injuries and being mentally fragile...but I won't.

Knowing he was injured, his season makes a lot more sense. He was sensational early on, and was injured in a game early in the season. Missed a few games, came back and played great again, but still seemed to tweak his groin on a few other occasions. Seems like the injury caught up with him for due to being overworked because of the play of our backups. Then it should be no surprise that when Khudobin starts getting us some wins, allowing him to rest, he looks great again.

I don't have to say anything about Bergy, we all know he's a warrior and that we are lucky to have him.

Somebody here mentioned a few months ago that Bergy usually gets down almost parallel to the ice when he takes faceoffs but that this year he hasn't been doing that....
Hopefully he'll be back to form for next season with some more young recruits to help out.:handclap:

As for Rask: Sweeney needs to figure out what to do about getting him some backup help so that he doesn't get worn down and eventually injured (again).
He's like a fine Maserati, needs to be maintained, can't be raced every day until the wheels fall off.

Yep, Bergeron should be around 80% on faceoffs when completely healthy.

It would be nice if McIntyre could step up to be the full time backup next year. He did well in Providence.

Shows what dedication both guys have for the Bs. No surprise that either player was playing injured in order to help the team. Bergy is as tough as they come.

That's for sure.

Bergy has been a dedicated warrior for the B's for many years, and when he's not playing up to his potential, there's usually a good reason.

Yep, hockey players are crazy. Thinking just about Bergeron's injuries I can recall off the top of my head over the years...

Four concussions, broken nose multiple times, punctured lung, separated shoulder, torn rib cartilage, broken rib, strained oblique, broken thumb, sprained ankle, sports hernia. Ouch.

This fall will be ten years since the Jones hit. I wasn't following hockey too closely at the time, but found this article about what he went through. I can't imagine that sort of recovery process, much less all the other things he's gone through over the years. And I think I have health issues. :help:
