I think you even can during the regular season, on the off chance that for some reason you're carrying three healthy goalies on the 23-man roster, and have one sitting in the press box as a healthy scratch if one of your goalies goes down with an injury. If a team did that for some odd reason, I think they'd still be governed by the rules for emergency backup goaltenders, as in they would not be allowed to enter the game unless the second goalie went down with an injury too, however.

Was their contact? Of course, but it seems entirely incidental. I think the contact was exacerbated by the shots to the mask that Stolarz took beforehand. If those already concussed him then this collision would've definitely made it worse for him when anyone without prior knocks probably would've gotten up pretty quickly.

He had a full intermission. Then he takes an elbow to the head and goes down immediately, why wouldn’t someone think that was the cause? It’s common sense.



He didn’t have someone throwing an elbow cheapshot at his head. I know people are saying it was minor, but watch all the angles and in regular speed, then see how Stolarz’ head/neck bends on contact.

Trauma was probably still in progress when the second hit happened.

Realtime it didnt seem like much (obviously im a bit biased and bennett being the one doesnt help) but any type of contact can cause it after that first impact

Both things can contribute. Not even trying to be a homer when saying the Bennett hit alone didn’t look forceful enough to trigger a concussion of that degree but I’m not a medical professional.

To be fair, it was likely both, but people who pretend that a hit to the head unexpectedly is a nothing play are delusional.

I'd much rather take a puck off the mask when bracing for it over an elbow to the side of the head without knowing it was coming.

Regardless of how light the hit was, not expecting it makes it way worse.

I mean to be fair speaking from my own experience, in school I crashed head first into a wall in gym, sat for ten minutes, got back into the game and went on with my day. It was probably 45 minutes to an hour later during the next period I was so out of it I could barely walk.

That should have been a major, ejection and 2 game suspension minimum. That was a dirty play. BTW, I’m not a TML fan and generally dislike them and their fans

It is a dirty player, making a questionable play, which led to injury, and there was no call during the game.

I don't think there will be a suspension, but I think it was intentional, and should likely lead to suspension because of it, but I know it won't because you can't prove intent.

If it was Barkov, I'd agree it was incidental, Bennett seems to accidentally do dirty things a lot.

You’re speculating though. Stolarz looked just fine after that slapshot. If he was concussed there would have been some indicator, and worst case, they would have pulled him at intermission. The fact that he stayed in the game, and was playing at a high level suggests it was just a typical shot to the mask.
