Class act by Bellemare and he's totally saved the face of whoever picked him for the player of the match over the goalie.

First off: Mega props to Bellemare. Can't let this look like I don't want to give a Flyer his due.

That said, everyone was really cute about it. The shy goalie not wanting to go, the two other teammates pushing him forward/egging Bellemare on, the whole team, the crowd, the old dude with the medal, who was immediately into it. Good for France! Great showing!

This one starts a bit earlier and has the moment they announce Bellemare and the whole French teams and the crowd is just going: "WTF just happened here?"

Huh? Really? Isn't it some IIHF jury.

No, the other poster should be right. There was a game last year, where everyone was surprised by Greiss getting picked for a game, in which he scored on himself (but was otherwise decent). It was widely reported Marco Sturm made the decision to bolster his confidence. So, they way I remember it, there is no impartial jury.

Apparently. I just watched the full ending of the game and indeed that's what Gord Miller or Ray Ferraro said too.
