They have to add a lot of substantially talented D prospects to their system. Those typically take longer to develop than forwards. The Hawks are doing well in that regard and they’ve been a worse team when Brodie, Martinez, Jones, and Murphy are all in the lineup as opposed to the kids.

The Hawks are absolutely lacking in forward talent and Bedard is on an island out there. No denying that. I just don’t see how the Sharks are overwhelmingly perceived as having a better rebuild at this stage when they’re clearly a worse team than even the disasterous Blackhawks. Askarov most likely isn’t their answer in net either.

Imo the Sharks have Celebrini to build around and he’s a better 1C than Bedard. So that’s why the Sharks, to me, have the better rebuild going.

If Eklund is a great young player then so is Vlasic. If Smith is a great young player then Nazar is one hot streak away from qualifying as one as well.

Both teams have another top 5 pick coming to them this year. Both teams have plenty more prospects coming, but the Hawks have had more picks in the top 2 rounds of the draft over the last 3 seasons. Both teams also have more cap space than you could shake a stick at going forward as well.

I'm pretty Zen about the state of the Hawks.

I really like Nazar, but I don’t think he is equal to Will Smith as a prospect…

He’s not. Main difference in rebuilds is hawks really need to draft another high end forward and the sharks need to draft a high end defenseman. Hawks will probably take Schaefer if the ping pong balls so dictate because scouting but a second marquee forward would go a long way.

He's def being smug AF but as a Hawks fan, there's no denying the Sharks right now have the much better younger talent and prospect pool and appear to be ahead of us.

Add Rinzel and Lardis and remove Reichel from that list for the Hawks.

Forward and in goal heavily leans San Jose. But that defense is nothing to write home about after Dickinson, especially on the right side; which is actually a real strength in the Hawks farm system.

SJS can also say add Chernyshov, Haltunnen and remove Thrun.

Oddly enough though, not saying it would be a majority, but a good amount could take Dickinson over any of the D Chicago have. I agree after that it's not close, but the F/G isn't really close either on the other side.

I know there's quite a few people that would prefer Dickinson over Levshunov or Korchinski.

Look, anything can happen going forward, but the bolded is absolutely ridiculous, especially Levshunov.

How is it ridiculous?

They were ranked 3 and 6 on Bob McKenzie's draft ranking last year, and Dickinson has had an amazing year so far. Levshunov has been good too, but not playing at some level he's clearly put himself above alot of the other D from 2024. I don't think anyone projects either as a true number 1. They both have flaws.

I'd take Dickinson over Korchinski every day.
