Seems like a nice fella and all but it had to happen
Agreed. Sucks it happened during the holidays, but he just wasn't head coach material. I think he started feeling the pressure bad when the Hail Mary debacle happened, and as a result he didn't want all the responsibility to fall on him. Which obviously turned the team against him, since it undoubtedly was mostly on him.

It blows my mind when people feel sorry for someone getting fired who clearly deserves it. The guy has been paid extremely well, and likely never deserved that head coaching money to begin with. He will be fine. He still gets paid.

He's a terrible f***ing coach. Good riddance.

Hopefully they are already looking for Poles replacement

We simply cant allow him to f*** things up again given he hired Eberflus, Fought to keep him and of course his performance as GM looks pitiful

I have no issue with them making decision to fire him

I just find it again embarrassing that Bears couldn't even handle that without looking terrible. There was no reason to allow him to come in and do his press briefing if you were going to fire him

Should have informed him of decision and then informed press there would obviously be no briefing

Hopefully this means this whole in season fire thing is a thing of the past. Once you do it once the cats out of the bag.
Yup, why make the passionate fans sit through that shit for the next 5 weeks.

Thomas Brown interim HC?

I'm watching next week 🤷🏻‍♂️

Poles has to wear the decision to keep Flus on with how disastrous that has turned out. I actually think he's done a decent job turning the roster around from where Pace left it, especially if you think that horrible coaching is the difference between 4-8 and chasing a wild card spot. But if nothing else this org needs to break the cycle of pairing QBs with thin-ice coaches and execs. Give these guys some f***ing stability.

Thomas Brown in as interim HC. Makes sense. Bit of a trial by fire for him, but so was the OC position.
As I said the other day, not sure I love this, if only because Brown focusing on developing Caleb is way more important than anything he can do as HC the rest of the year. Getting a mess of a locker room together is arguably part of building a successful environment for him to grow within, but hopefully it doesn't get in the way of the other aspects of it

I do think more teams than the Bears would look at Brown as a HC option if he does well through the gauntlet these last 8 games (3 of which the offense has already looked above average), so they want to know how he looks down on the sidelines.

But yeah, as you say, it's tricky with the relationship and stability for the QB.
