This is going to be another battle between easily stoppable force against easily movable object with the Cards' D-line against the Bears O-line. If the possible line of Borom-Pryor-Shelton-Davis-Wright can keep pressure off Williams, he'll probably look like he did against the Panthers and Jaguars.

If you want an example of perception of QBs behind a good O-line compared to a bad one, you only have to look as far as Stroud last year compared to this.

On the lunacy of having your backup Center full back carry the ball last game, maybe the explanation that they can do different trick things out of that position would have worked, had it not been for the fact that having Johnson carry the ball behind Kramer has been goddamned automatic.

Exactly. I probably could do cartwheels down the hallway on my way to the bathroom, but if I fall down and shit myself I don't suppose anyone is going to want to hear about all the ways it should have worked out for me.

Well, my only question would be if you are at 100% otherwise for walking down the hallway to the bathroom?

On the O-line note, in the case the Bears go after Ben Johnson in the offseason, how worried would you be about Ben Johnson looking better than he is because he's operating with the best O-line in the game?

Don't get me wrong, I'd 100% support getting him and then following the Panthers lead (probably the only time anyone will say this this year) and buying the two biggest meanest guards in free agency. Then spend two of the first three draft picks on O-line as well.

But look at how Slowik (and Stroud, for that matter) looks this season with a worse O-line.

Good callout and it’s definitely a concern, but it’s easy to fix too. Plenty of money, a first round pick, and two second round picks.

Hopefully he would be smart enough to realize it needs to be addressed, and if not, we probably have more coaching problems already lol.

Sounds like they expect Borom to play LT. So it will probably be either Borom-Jenkins-Shelton-Pryor-Wright, or Borom-Pryor-Shelton-Davis-Wright.

I feel like the proper punishment for Stevenson should have been to make him inactive….

Not bench him until his replacement proves to be worse and then immediately put Stevenson back in.

Chicken shit punishment but basically what you’d expect from this coaching staff, I guess.

I've never seen an nfl player scratched a whole game for something of that nature. Never seen that from any even well adored coaching staff like Reid or Bellicheck who have had bundled plays.

There's Jets fan calls for Corley to be cut for dropping the ball before the TD. That's not gonna happen. It's like the main board talking about coaches threads. The fan call decisions of how coaches should coach would actually lead to losing the players all the time.

Jaire Alexander was benched last season for his dumbassery around the coin flip. I feel like that's fairly comparable.

I'm not surprised that Stevenson isn't inactive, just saying that it does happen.

Dropping a ball is and calling for a benching is a hell of a lot different than a guy turning his back to an active play and to taunt fans. Not even remotely comparable situations.

We need the bodies so I’m glad he’s playing but I still think if you are going to punish a guy then he needs to sit the entire game as an inactive. Like Doubs did for GB for skipping practice.

Speaking of…. MHJ is going to feast if they line him up on the opposite of JJ. I hope they have a plan for that, assuming Arizona does that.

It's a gray area. So every coach has a different way of dealing with an irresponsible act. Is it a mental mistake like dropping the ball, perhaps not being ready for a play. Or is it breaking a definitive team rule, like going out for the coin toss or filming in the lockerroom or whatever. You have got to be sure that the whole team doesn't get punished because one guy messed up.

Bears did elevate Reddy Steward from PS, so maybe Tyrique sits for quite a bit more than just a few plays.

My guess was that’s because Gordon will be inactive.

I’d be shocked if Stevenson misses more than the opening drive.

I don't really have as big of an issue with Stevenson not being benched as I do with the lack of accountability from the coaches after the game. Maybe they're different between closed doors, but the inability to take responsibility for a lost fumble on the 1 yard line, the 15 yard free gain before the Hail Mary, and finally the Hail Mary itself, were rough. It felt like coaches covering their own backs, instead of holding themselves accountable.

Now the story grows…. He pulls himself out of practice mid week. Quitter. He hasn’t even been that good either. I’m fine with cutting him.

If he’s active after pulling that then this coaching staff is somehow worse than I thought.

Especially now that this has leaked. He’s gotta be inactive.

If he pulled himself out of practice for it, he should be suspended by the team for the game.

He only left practice for a few minutes to go to lockerroom, after the stretchng period but before returning for team activities, according to C Cronin

Dallas down 14-3. If they lose you gotta think Parsons has to be in the table. Doesn’t sound like they can afford him after the Dak and Lamb extensions.

Not sure I’d even want the Bears in the running though given the cost and the fact he needs a new contract. If Sweat who also needed a contract went for a 2nd…. Parsons I assume has to be a 1st and then some.
