Dallas is looking for RD badly, so paying dobson while filling RD isn't a bad issue. They'd probably need to unload dumba though.
I wouldn't say "badly." They need a guy who can play 2nd pair effectively. To me that's more of a figure it out at the deadline issue.

Someone like Ristolainen would make a lot of sense to target. Big physical RHD, that's decent defensively, and can pk. Also another Finn

I’d keep the offseason pretty simple. I think they’ll take swings at Bennett and Marner but I don’t see a hope in hell of those working out.

2nd + Kerins for K. Andre Miller

Andersson + 18 for 9(McQueen)

Resign Hanley 1x3. Waive Miromanov and Bean.

Huberdeau-Zary-Klapka
Frost-Kadri-Coronato
Coleman-Backlund-Farabee
Lomberg-Kirkland-Pospisil
X

KAM-Weegar
Bahl-Parekh
Hanley-Pachal
Kuznetsov-Solovyov

Wolf
X (Vladar?)

Miller is one of my favourite D targets for this offseason. Lots of tools and has had success before, but struggled a bit recently.

Long and skates well. Kind of like a Bahl potential for how well he can kill plays, plus more offensive upside.

Really good target for where we’re at.

I do not know how to be a GM and would suck at it. But this would be my Bucket list.

1. Trade Huberdeau
2. Not resign Coleman, Rooney
3. try to get Jason Roberston, Mitch Marner, Aaron Ekbal, Sam Bennett.
4. Willing to trade Anderson for Jason Roberston
5. Sign Dan Vladar for 2 years that way if he not doing well he is easy to trade as teams know he has a year left before UFA.

That's all I can think off right now. Basically each year we do nothing home to ride with whatever we have and miss playoff again. I home Connie gets some more veterans to help these kids Kadri good only to a point.

1. Huberdeau is completely untradeable until (if) he has an Erik Karlsson 100 point, lead your team by 20 points caliber season
2. Coleman is literally under contract for 2 more seasons. He signed a 6 year deal with us
3. Robertson sure, great goal scorer and we need goals. Problem is his footspeed would be awkward, and the acquisition cost would be enormous. Hard pass on the other 3. Marner would want 14M+, Ekblad is injury prone as hell, and Bennett isn't a guy that gets your team to the playoffs (plus he probably won't want to come back).
4. Andersson does not hold remotely as much value as Robertson. Remember the Tkachuk trade? Robertson is Tkachuk and Andersson is Weegar in that scenario. Flames would have to add a player of similar caliber to 100 point Huberdeau, and a 1st. A realistic trade would probably be Andersson + Coronato/Zary + both our 1sts. Even then Dallas can probably do better elsewhere.
5. Vladar is a pure backup in Calgary. Flames absolutely made him an offer but he will probably test the market for more money and a better chance at a starting job elsewhere

I don't really know how you can say we do nothing each off season
Last year we traded Markstrom and Mangiapane
2 years ago we traded Toffoli for Sharangovich
3 years ago we signed the biggest center UFA and traded Tkachuk for both Huberdeau and Weegar

I think you are a bit ambitious with those trades.
NYR won't be looking for picks and prospects, they want to compete.
Buffalo will want to talk to Andersson before making a trade for him and he can't sign until at earliest July 1st. I highly doubt Ras is moved before July.
Hanley probably tests the market, this is the best year of his career and he probably won't get another chance to get a good multi year deal.
We can still probably get a late round pick for Miromanov, someone will take a chance on him as he's a big RD on a dirt cheap contract, and has shown some NHL ability.
Keep Bean since Hanley realistically isn't coming back

Why is Klapka on the top line? I like him but lets be real, he's not a top line talent. Frost should absolutely be playing center too

Teams fairly regularly give up 1sts for 2 months of a player that are often lesser players than Ras and those deadline deals rarely work out because they aren't with the team long enough to really fit in.... Ras to DET or CBJ for 13 or 14 wouldn't be an unreasonable ask.... 9 is a little high and I just don't see 11 or 12 being available for him as he doesn't fit the needs of either the Pens or Rangers (if they keep the pick)
On a different note, I would not at all be surprised if Pittsburgh decides to trade down from 11 for additional draft capital. If they view the prospects between 11 and 18 as interchangable (ie Carbonneau vs Reschny) I think they might value replenishing their pool more. 18+31/32 is about the same value as pick 11 according to puckpedia. I could see a trade like that making sense for the Flames if they really want someone like McQueen or Martin.

I think much will depend on what NYR decides to do. If they keep their pick, I think it makes more sense for the Pens to add an additional first rounder, but if the Rangers decide to keep their 2026 pick instead, I'm not sure the Pens would be as interested.

Honestly though, I don't see us making any significant draft day moves. I could see us moving back from 31/32 to gain an additional pick... something like 31/32 to MTL for 41 and one of 79/81/82.

I don't expect Andersson to be moved before Dec. 1, so I think while the talking heads will flap their gums, nothing will happen.

On July 1, I can see us signing a defenseman to play in teh top 4 and starting with Parekh on the 3rd pair and then move him up when Andersson is eventually traded. And of course a couple/few Wranglers signings.

But all in all I suspect the draft/FA week will be pretty quiet for us.

More likely to trade up than down. Dubas has already stated he doesnt plan on drafting with all the picks accumulated.

What are the chances that we can land Tij Iginla in a Rasmus Anderrson trade? It of course would not be a one for one but in a package.

I think that’s every fans dream. He and McKenna would make great linemates. But i think it’s more likely in season and Utah is looking like a playoff team and adding that one player takes them to another level. Plus it’s reflective of how Jerome came to CGY. 😁

absolutely do not want Marner, he probably drops to 60-70 points on any other team outside of Toronto/edmonton/florida.

Could be a contract worse then Darnell nurse.

Inside rumours swirling around that Razzy is gone at the draft, first rounder, young player type deal. Then an 8.25x8 contract.

Several suitors.

Big if true.

Source? Makes sense though. RD and G are filled long term. A certain poster is going to say that we are Buffalo because of this.

Maybe a verbal agreement that is announced on July 1.
That's only ever happened with 1 player. Seth Jones, and that's because he was legally allowed to negotiate a contract since the draft was in the middle of July that summer due to COVID. The contract was signed the say of the trade. The league just delayed registering it to line up with when free agency opened

Honestly, the “young roster player” is not that interesting to me from any of those teams. Wondering if one of the better options is Marcelli from Utah? San Jose, in theory, should have some options too, but I can’t wrap my head around which could be had.
