Bauer Skate Sizing

Hey guys,
I know there is always loads of skate threads on here but I was wondering about differences between the Bauer Supreme and Vapor ranges.
I currently have a pair of Supreme One05 skates (Awful things!) and have been told I should be looking at the vapors as a replacement as I have fairly narrow feet. Is there a major difference between the fit of the two ranges?
I have always said that I'd rather buy in store than online but unfortunately being in the UK I can pick up Vapor X6.0s for about £150 cheaper online than from the nearest shop (still about a 80 mile round trip) so really trying them isn't going to be an option.
Any thoughts?

I just switched from Supreme One20 (size 8R, too long but good in terms of width, i got them as a gift last year so i can't change size) to Vapor X4.0 LE (size 7D).

What i can tell you is:
first: skate length its the same, if you like a less tight feel get half size more;
second: if you had R on supreme and you fit on them too tight, go with 2EE vapor, otherwise D should be ok..

I was lucky to have a pair of RX:05 so i sized my foot on vapors before, but as long as you pay attention to the width you shouldn't have a lot of problems..

Other than that, i dont find anything bad in switching, i know a lot of guys that went back and forth between supremes (totalone, one100) and vapor (x:60 and now APX)

The Vapors start in a D width while Supremes start in an E width.

Essentially a Supreme D is a true E so a Supreme D is wider than a Vapor D.

The Vapors are a more uniformly narrower skate than the Supreme, which have a wider fore/mid foot. The Supremes are also a deeper boot for a deeper instep. The heel on a Vapor is a bit narrower as well.

The jump from the One05s to the 6.0 is very substantial. The 6.0s are much much stiffer, something that you might not need depending on your level of play. The adjustment period could even be a hindrance to your skating if you're not at an intermediate level already.

Thats pretty much what I thought, The Vapors will certainly be better for my narrow feet :)
To be honest the flexibility and complete lack of any sort of support on the One05s is the reason I want to change and I'm not the sort of person to do things by halves, I generally go for the best I can afford. I'm not playing games at the moment, just training and getting plenty of icetime for practice so the adjustment period doesn't worry me too much, certainly not as much as it would if I was playing regular games at the moment.

I wear a 10.5 shoe, 8.5 Vapor X60 LE's, my foot doesn't fit into supremes, pain on the top of both feet. Pretty much the same when I've worn Easton Synergy's and Stealths. Synergy's fit out of the box, didn't need to bake them. Bought Stealths and they hurt my feet, couldn't tie up the top eyelet, just didn't care for them.

I would never buy skates, ever, without trying them on first. Personally I try on as many skates as possible, and try to just completely ignore the brand, looks, etc., because it really is all about what fits best, and there's no way to know at all without trying them on. If you really cannot try them on, well, prepare to roll the dice I guess.

As for Vapors vs. Supreme's, length-wise they're the same (and really almost all skates are sized very similarly length wise), your toes should be just feathering the toe cap when standing up straight, and just pulling away from the toe cap when in a deep knee bend. In terms of width, Supremes are decently wider around the midfoot and the balls of your feet, but I would say the width in the ankle/heel area is pretty similar. Basically, Supremes are built for a foot that widens out more from heel to toe, while Vapors are built for a straighter foot. Vapors will fit somewhat narrow feet, but they aren't crazy narrow skates or anything, if you have really narrow feet you've got to go with some narrow Grafs or something like that.

After I wrote this post I realized that I basically just repeated a lot of what "AIREAYE" said, but there's some new stuff there too, so I'll just post it anyways.

Vapors = loose around the ankles tight on the sides where your foot is

Supremes = tight around ankles loose around the sides of your feet

what you are in a supreme you will generally be half or a full size bigger in vapors (most likely a half size)

:)

Im sorry, but he is correct.

Supremes have a slightly tighter heel then a vapor, fit a half size bigger, and are wider at the front then a vapor.

They are wider at the front, but not the other 2 points. The Supremes have a slightly rounder ankle than the Vapor.

The only major consistent length inconsistency that I've had to deal with is Easton, who fit a half or even full size larger. I fit a customer today for One100s and APXs, the One100s in a 5.5 and the APXs in a 6 fit the same (which it really shouldn't, but one fott was larger than the other), so with that example ALONE, I have no idea where you get this from. I'd like to know though.

This is really strange seeing as i know you know equipment very well. I work at a hockey store as well (skate department lead) Plus i own a pair of one100's I can tell you that supremes have a tighter ankle (roughly same size heel) and a V out from the back. They also fit slightly wider and fit slightly bigger. I got this straight from a Bauer rep.

Yeah dude, we're in the same line of trade and that's odd. Did you ever take a look at the diagrams for Bauer skate fits from Bauer themselves? The official Gear Guide 2011 Spring that I have here says that the Vapors have a standard V fit (narrower heel) and Supremes have the rounded heel fit.

But looking at this post, you say that they have a tighter ankle... I'm thinking we either are misinterpreting words here or are using the adjectives relative to ourselves and our experiences. What do you think?

That is what im thinking. I find that the supreme is tighter at the back of the ankle (right by the achillies tendon) Where as the vapor doesnt seem to have that tightness. I found that a lot of people notice this during fits. I will have to check our bauer fit guides, but this has really got me second guessing myself haha.

Yeah, let's get on the same page. I think we also mixed up heel and ankle too. Let me know what you find :)
