What I do not get is why they just do not go back and do a show on the first war

They did, sorta. Blood and Chrome was centered around the first war and was mostly good. I would like to see the story expanded however.

Also, Caprica needs to be given a 2nd chance. The whole Polytheistic society dealing with radicalized monotheistic terrorists who use edgy teens as suicide bombers, give me more, please. I also want any reboot to go deep into the cultures of the other colonies. Only a couple of the colonies ever got any fleshing out.

I'd love to watch the 2004 series again, but the day after I got Peacock they announced they were removing the show in a week so I didn't bother. Really not sure why they removed it and nobody else is streaming it.

So it's not on Prime anymore? That's where I watched it 2-3 years ago.

I am lucky. The reboot is still on BBC in the UK

Well the fact they were calling it a reboot would have killed any interest for me.(Though RDM did say it did involve nuBSG?)
I do think they could be some value in a sequel to nuBSG. It could be about Earth and them dealing with their own robot/AI thing and initial galactic exploration(they find Jump technology in some Colonial relic).

But I assumed there was never any interest in exploring that idea since they decided to do Caprica instead. Which I was never interested in because I'm so over prequels, heh.
