Y'all have an amazing team. Best D in the league. Gonna be quite the task getting u guys out come April & May.
I would agree. It takes some time to adjust to the smaller rinks, contact, different linemates every night. I am anxious to see Hemming's second half especially if there is an upgrade to the top 9. All 3 of the top right wings could switch around if any go stale but Gardner, Patterson and Hemming are all looking real good. While I don't see any road games, I am not sure why everyone is down on Hemming. The games I have seen he is hard working, wins a lot of battles and very sound defensively. Yes, we want him to put the puck in the net, but I'd rather him doing the things he's doing than put the puck in the net and be lazy elsewhere in the games (a la Oulasson). Also having him move all around the lineup can't be that easy for him. With all of the injuries, trades, and absences we've seen he hasn't had consistent linemates. He's also been put with non scoring players a lot of the time, expected to be a line driver.
They say if you're not getting chances...that's when you worry. Hemming gets a lot of chances and eventually he's going to figure out how to bury them on a consistent basis.
What if that means there’s a trade coming whether it’s Derbidge or Jaiden Newton out the door to make room2024 2nd rounder Ben Bowen has committed to the Colts.
I'd probably send Dubowsky or Black back down to tier 2.Would if that means there’s a trade coming whether it’s Derbidge or Jaiden Newton out the door to make room
I agree with all that bring in a fairly cheap 05 winger to add depth to the forward group and then rotate Wigle and Lowe on the 4th line with Vaughan Newton and Bowen. I agree I think Derbidge has to get moved out or released and move black back to tier 2. I rather have Dubowsky get 4th line mins than Derbidge cause at least Dubowsky will likely be on the team next year being a 07. Injuries and suspensions will happen so guys will get moved up into higher roles as the season goes on anyways just can’t have guys like Derbidge playing top 9 when someone goes downI believe I read somewhere Bowen was injured and may still be.
Derbidge would likely just be an outright release or a similar trade as Grisolia. Grisolia was a 2nd and got them a 15th so I can't imagine Derbidge gets them much if anything back so now they are eating his school package potentially to boot unless they keep him as a spare part.
Unless they plan on dropping Wigle down to 4th line center I'm not sure why they would move Newton especially now with the other Newton gone but you never know. He doesn't hurt them defensively and can match up with most 3rd/4th line centers.
I can't imagine Newton would get more than picks back in return unless he was packaged with a Passmore for a high end player. That may be the angle (similar to Oshawa trade for Barlow)
If its just picks and they are planning to package those picks with Vaughan for a top end guy that is a pretty significant price to pay as well. That would potentially leave them with 1st and 2nd 07 gone. 1st '08 gone. Newton is also the only forward left who appears willing to drop the gloves when the need arises.
Also there is a possibility, although unlikely, that Beaudoin sticks next year but the more likely scenario is if they go completely in he will be traded next year to re stock.
In that scenario its pretty tough to go forward without all your top picks over 3 years.
on top of that I can't imagine Wigle would be ok with 4th line minutes.
Maybe Wigle stays up and now you have Lowe and whoever else is left with no natural centers.
They keep Vaughan and Newton you could have a 3 year line of Bowen Newton Vaughan.
Knowing Marty's history I can't imagine he'd be willing to go completely all in especially with London having what they have, Erie likely going in and in the East you have Kingston exceeding expectations and Brampton, Oshawa and possibly Brantford making runs.
That's a big risk. If they stay with this group they can find a cheap 05 upgrade for top 9, keep their kids and make a two year run without blowing it all up.
Probably black for sure then maybe Derbidge released keep Dubowsky for 4th line being 2 years younger than Derbidge helps him for sure cause dubowsky probably plays for the colts next year tooI'd probably send Dubowsky or Black back down to tier 2.
