I think Gregor's issue is that he isn't a fast enough thinker to turn his physical talents into NHL success. He has the speed and shot to play, and he can be physical, but he doesn't seem to know how to use his skills against NHL teams.

I think he's worth another chance this year and maybe next year if he can show some promise, but I'm kinda thinking he's going to wind up a perpetual waiver-wire fourth liner.

I think that's where I'm at too. He is great to watch down here in the AHL and drives the line he's on. But that's what he did here the last couple years, too.

Gregor has entered the Gambrell zone for me now. Can he find a way to translate this to NHL success, or is he just an AAAA-level player?

Because Gambrell would come to the Cuda and be one of the best players on the ice. But we all saw how that went.

Gambrell was the typical "great-at-nothing, OK-at-everything" prospect that generally struggles at the NHL level (I don't think it helped that his effort level wasn't great). At the very least, Gregor has top-end NHL speed.

Agreed; nothing special about his skills/brain (even his shot, IMO, is nothing to write home about). But...that's basically Matt Nieto or Andrew Cogliano. That's "legit NHLer" territory.

Questions about Reedy:
1. How is he looking this season? What might be his nhl upside?

2. any chance he gets called up this season?

Thanks

1. His numbers are really good (6G/4A in 10GP), but one thing worth noting is that his shooting percentage right now is 50%. I mean, that's obviously not going to continue to be a thing. Does most things pretty well, has a habit of being in exactly the right place to make something happen in the offensive zone. Defense is kinda meh. I feel like he's going to wind up at RW, and I think the Sharks do too. They moved him out to wing before the Kellman injury forced him back to center.

2. He's one of a few guys who I think could get a callup out of this Barracuda group, yeah, but it'd probably take some injuries or trades for it to happen.

Already hate watching games against this Gulls team. Two straight games they just spend the entire third period dumping to center to sit on a one goal lead.

So will Sommer ever be held responsible for how bad the Cuda are?

I honestly think the Sharks are having so many prospects development stall in this team (and one reason I was happy to see Eklund back in Sweden instead of the Cuda). There needs to be massive changes before damage can be done to Robins, Weisblatt, et al.

That was the last of four straight against the Gulls (lost all four), and I can't muster much of a reaction because those games were just. So. Boring. I will be glad to see literally any other team right now.

One of Melnichuk's best games tonight despite the unimpressive scoreline. Blichfeld scored both our goals, he's at least got his scoring touch back. Raska drew another two or three penalties and that's basically all he does lately, he's still on 0 points.. Leonard has been invisible since being sent back down after his early call-up.

Chmelevski is back at wing, so now we've got Kyle Topping as our 2C. Our center situation is outright dire.

Abbotsford Canucks fan here. Any chance Kane will be on the trip this weekend?

Still waiting to hear that this weekends games in Abbotsford are a go, especially with more weather going through area.

Speculation was that he might not be close enough to game shape to participate this weekend. (He hasn't played a game since May.)

But that next Tuesday's game @ Stockton might be his debut.

Few AHL/ECHL transactions the last couple days:

Cole Moberg recalled from Orlando.

Kyle Topping and Steenn Pasichnuk sent down to Orlando.

McGrew back in the lineup, Hatakka paired with Merkley.

Moberg and Onyebuchi in, Kniazev and Alt (dealing with lower body injury, says pre-game) sit.
