Well it is in Florida so glad they are going for a Florida player.

Although Carter or Montour would have been a better choice this season.

I'd take Matthews over Barkov straight up.

Younger, significantly better goal scorer, and while not on Barkov's level defensively, he's still pretty solid.

That being said, I could never get excited at the idea of Barkov leaving Florida. He's arguably the best forward in franchise history, (close with Bure) and a homegrown talent.

Verhaeghe deserves it much more this season. It really hasn’t been close. Barkov’s tied for 40th in goals…amongst centers (according to CapFriendly) and tied for 20th in points (amongst centers again). But it’s good they gave it to a panther. As the host, we should have more than 1 player, but Verhaeghe, Forsling, and montour are technically more deserving
