Start of season: enough trusted media sources made it clear that they want to announce it when he is here. Given Covid, it is not reasonable to expect Barky to fly back to sign the contract.

I was unhappy until they told me this. I also don't think Zito would have traded for Reinhart and gave him a large contract if he thought Barky would need a lot more money.

There's no trusted media source saying that they know for certain the contract is already agreed to and they are just waiting for Barkov to come back to Florida to announce it. That's all just been speculation.

I highly doubt he’ll negotiate during the season as it’s very uncommon. It either happens prior to training camp or it won’t until the post-season, which would be a concern as it gets closer to free agency.

Only reason to be nervous (and I'm really not) is the M.O seems to be much the same for Barkov as it was OJ. Same agent (Mark Gandler) is involved here.

But our GM said by himself, when Barkov comes back the Contract talk go on, but he will stay and re-sign that is a garanty on it.

I’m sure it’s a lot more than that. They’re probably really focusing on the structure of the contract, how much of it is guaranteed, how much is incentive, yada yada. I would hope they’ve agreed to a dollar amount in total by now.
