It would be nice for the sake of this sub-forum's moral if they put in a good performance and get average goaltending. Hope Parise pops one in since this will be his last regular season game.

We know that Georgiev can't be relied upon, but the team had been winning all year in spite of him. Just gotta keep doing that in the playoffs. If Georgie or Justus can keep a .890 sv% we'll be OK, anything above that will be gravy. I'm not ready to go all doom and gloom like it seems like so many people here are. This team can score like no one else in this league. This team won a dang Stanley Cup in spite of their below-average goalie.

Go Avs go.

If Annunen starts and does well, I'd put money that he will be Game 1 starter.

The way it should be. Although we have no idea who Edmonton will play tonight, it's good that the players want to have one last crack to get their shit together before the playoffs. And that Annunen gets another good matchup, despite the fact that we know Georgiev has the net in G1.

Edmonton called up several players yesterday, and they played last night. I would assume they will rest guys tonight. I would doubt McDavid plays.

Maybe this could shut up those complaining about Bednar tiring out players?
No... for two main reasons.

1. Bednar clearly overplays guys. We've seen the legs and how they aren't always there.

2. Why even give the option? Just sit some guys. Hockey players are dummies... they'll want to play as much as they can and honestly can't help themselves. Bednar could save them from themselves in this instance.

If the Avs play game 1 on Monday, they will have played 4 games in 14 days. That’s really plenty of rest.

I’m perfectly fine having Bednar play them all. Especially given they’re not on top of their game lately.

Only real concern is injury in a meaningless game.

Starting Annunen is interesting.

Who are they gonna call up and have play? Half the Eagles roster is hurt, so they don't have bodies to spare, and they just played B2B games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Girard is hurt, and the only extra D they have is Jones. The only guy they have available to play is Kivi.

Overplaying as a whole isn't just one game and this isn't going to make a huge difference. Just had the clear opportunity to keep 20+ minutes from MacK, Rants, Makar, Toews, etc and chose not to.

It doesn't really matter it is a meaningless game. They have 3 callups left IIRC, call any warm body up. Reward Achan and Middleton for having good seasons. Give Pavel a game to maybe encourage some college UFA love. Call up Smallman so he can say he was a NHLer. The win or loss doesn't matter tonight at all. They could have given a rest to some top guys and just chose not to.
