You're welcome to feel shitty about it. The market sucks for buyers right now.
If you’re gonna overpay/waste assets, do it for something that actually makes a difference. The market being terrible is an absolutely garbage excuse.

You know what helps with defensive depth? Upgrading on Manson and pushing him down to the bottom pair.

In Lingren’s defense, the way Rangers have played 2nd half of the season, even Fox and Shesterkin looked bad. A guy like Zibanejad also forgot how to play hockey. Let’s see how Lingren looks on our 3rd pair before judging him
Yeah I was gonna say, who on the rangers hasn't looked mostly like shit the last 2 years?

I agree. I know nothing about Lindgren. Can’t say I’ve seen any minutes of his game. I think this entire board is in agreement that this doesn’t accomplish really anything. Reminds us of the Eller trade.
But we need to see how he plays and if other moves are made to see if our initial assessments are on point, or way off.

6 days to go, and we're better than we were yesterday.

I guess I'll leave it there for now.

What I'm saying is I don't think it's an overpay really. I think this is indicative of the scarcity of exactly the level of player you're looking for.

I don't know how people can get so wound up so quickly by a trade. The emotional hot takes in the immediate aftermath are rarely accurate. I'll reserve judgement until I see what else is to come and how the new players perform. My immediate thoughts were I don't really get it and the price seemed high, but I'll happily wait to see if Lindgren can do better with a lesser role against worse competition on our bottom pairing.
While I get what you are saying, cutting some corners, Lindgren has to be three levels better.
The first level is that he has to be better than he has been this season. I think most of people can see this as somewhat realistic.
The second level is that he has to be better than de Haan. I think even more people agrees on on this than on the previous point.
The third level is that he has to be so much better than de Haan that it justifies using a second round draft pick on him. I have a strong feeling that this is the part that a lot of people don't believe in.

Agreed. If March 7th rolls and this is our only move, it’s clearly a bad move. Even if Lindgren plays amazing, it’s still a bad move if done alone.
It’s not a difference maker by itself towards a cup.
So we’re going to have to hope for additional moves that have needle moving potential.

I think it remains to be seen if it's a waste. You'll probably be right. I guess I'm just glad they're trying SOMETHING
The problem here is that Avalanche is not right now a team that really has to try something on the level of "for god sake, make some trades!". The team is not necessarily so far looking like a Stanley Cup favorite and honestly, I 100 % feel no-one feels that this trade dramatically improved that.

So there's really no need to trade just to trade.

So just a waste of assets. I guess that makes it better.
How about for once you tell us all these deals you'd like to see? Give us details with the picks and retention involved. You are very good at complaining about what we need, but have not once given an actual move you'd make. Id love to see what the all knowing nammerus has up his sleeve.

100000000% disagree. Every year of MacKinnon and Makar primes at this point that we don't all in, we're buffoons. Pro scouts determined this was a trade to make. I will give benefit of the doubt as I have in the last number of years. They've earned it

And acquiring Ryan Lindgren is the "all in"-trade you feel is worth taking? The moment he wins Conn Smythe Trophy for Avalanche, I'll buy a season ticket for you for the next season.
