This is an utterly atrocious deal. Good lord, CMac. You literally are getting this level of play from De Haan/Kylington and you give up a 2nd, 4th and Parssinen who you gave up a 3rd for earlier to get a god awful defenseman.

Horrible, horrible start to the TDL. Pro scouts with a gigantic whiff. We don't need to see Lindgren play - he's atrocious.
Careful here. This is like @Ararana's post on the main board after we traded Fourgiev for Blackwood - that it was only a latteral move.

The lesson is - wait until he plays for the team and see before declaring it complete garbage.

Kakko 19pts in 27gp for Seattle
Chytil 5pts in 8gp for vancouver

I don't care what he looked like with that team up until this point but if we acquired a guy who's a #4 / #5 at $2.25M for the playoffs for what we gave up, I don't think the price is that outrageous.

Hypothetical... did CMac acquire Lindgren so he can trade Girard as part of a deal for Jones?

Toews/Makar
Lindgren/Jones
Kylington/Manson

That's a lot beefier D corp for playoff style hockey.
I hadn't thought about it that way. I was thinking that Chicago was insisting on Manson being part of the trade so they could flip him at the TDL or next year's TDL.

So then the Avs went out and acquired a player who plays a similar style of game to replace what he brings and is still only 27.

Toews/Makar
Girard/Jones
Lindgren/Malinski

I don't know how people can get so wound up so quickly by a trade. The emotional hot takes in the immediate aftermath are rarely accurate. I'll reserve judgement until I see what else is to come and how the new players perform. My immediate thoughts were I don't really get it and the price seemed high, but I'll happily wait to see if Lindgren can do better with a lesser role against worse competition on our bottom pairing.

Blackwood showed in SJ he was regaining his form.

Lindgren for a few years now has been a disaster. This is not a good move.

One thing I’ll say as an aside to this trade is that prime Nathan MacKinnon deserves an all-in trade deadline from management.

f*** the 26 1st, f*** the 25 2nd, f*** all the prospects. Trade whatever it takes to add a sure impact player at the deadline.

The franchise is blind if they feel protecting the future should be a priority right now. This may be the last year he’s at this level.

Man, luckily luminaries likes Ryjo/Georgiev, who were garbage before they were acquired, showed their true colours playing in the players paradise known as the Avs, and were just world beaters. I’m sure you still take pleasure in laughing at the Preds and Rangers fans that warned us about these hidden jewels.

It's a lot to give up but I like Lindgren on our bottom D pairing. Vesey is just fine as a depth F I guess.

But it's a lot going back to NY, with a 2nd and 4th, AND parsnip (so Pavel and a 3rd round pick) and CDH (negative value?).

That's like spending rent money on lottery tickets and saying you have to wait for the drawing to determine if it was a bad decision.

I think we were all hoping for a trade that made the defense significantly better, not just the bottom pair LD spot. Especially since they're unlikely to improve on Mitts.

This isn't enough of an improvement.

6 points this season and one of the worst skaters in the NHL.

Right on, right on... looking good.

Who gives a shit if picks are overrated. They are tools to improve the team. This doesn’t do shit. Lindgren has been absolute garbage for over a year. You’re the same mope who probably thought the Eller’s trade was top notch.
Cant argue with you this time 😅 the trade must be bad as you never miss a chance to take a dump on the avs when they are not looking as good.

I don’t like the price but at least the team got better even if it’s marginally.

Why actually try and improve the team, when you can just make trades that don’t actually move the needle, but make it look like you’re an aggressive GM! By that metric, CMac is an actual god.

I wouldn’t rule out a trade for a RD as well.

It’s entirely possible Manson is missing significant time and they want a physical presence to replace him.
It’s also possible he’s LTIR and the Avs are looking to solidify their entire top 6 D.
