Offcourse not. But I can tell you that in couple of years you guys are going to be pissed because of this trade. For Annunen this is was a great trade, Nashville is a dumpster Firefox at the moment so theres not a lot of pressure and he can develop with the help of a finnish star goalie.
We'll see then. All prospects have a chance of breaking out, most of them won't. He got traded because of how badly he played. Not sure what there is in his play that makes you so confident that we'll miss him. I wish him luck though, I'm only going to be happy for any traded prospect that manages to have a great career.

Annunen may very well go on to have a stellar career and better than Wedgewood.

The Avs couldn’t sit around and wait for that to happen. The facts are Annunen was one of the worst goalies in the NHL this year in every statistical category. He was cooked.

The Avalanche are only concerned with the here and now, one which has Wedgewood performing well and helping settle down the goaltending position.

The Avs have had good success recently in cutting bait with their own prospects in time when they still held some value. Newhook, Barron, Byram, Jost...

Annunen's career with us failed the moment Bednar quit believing in him and continously kept praising Georgiev inexplicably. This was pure injustice for our guy Justus. I wish him a great career, because we did the him no favors.
While I do agree that the way Bednar talked about him vs Georgiev was suspect, and Bednar didn't really give Justus a chance last year, this year he had his chance to claim the #1 spot. He didn't.

Fully agree with this. Thought it was so weird that Bednar was so insistent that Georgie was amazing and was their guy, but underplayed Annunen's good games and was overly critical of his bad games. Great way to destroy a guys confidence.

Mitch Korn will fix him

Annunw
en and Kovalenko gives more evidence that Bednar can't develop young players

I already posted before how blown out of proportion the Bednar favoritism narrative is. If those comments really got to Annunen, which I don't believe for a second, he'll spontaneously combust if he ever has to play under someone like Tortorella.

I'm happy Annunen is doing well. Mitch Korn developed Hutton and Saros and now has a chance to work his magic on Annunen. So far, so good.

But frankly, it's not surprising at all Annunen is doing well. Colorado spaced out his starts last year and he was great. The issues came in when the team needed to lean on him out of necessity, like they had Pavel Francouz in years past. That's what Wedgewood has been able to do. He's appeared in five of the last six games and handled it like a champ.

This is it. A backup needs to not only be able to pick up the occasional game, but they need to provide some degree of stability in the event the #1 goes down or on a slump. Annunen was good as far as the former is concerned, but he was not reliable in the latter situations. Franky was such an amazing backup to be honest, reliable and a team first guy. I wish no ill-will on Annunen at all, but it was obvious at this point in his career he wasn't reliable enough to do more than pick up a backup's set of games. And with George floundering, we needed (unfairly or not) more from Justus, and he just wasn't giving us that.

Annunen didn't give Bednar much reason to trust him...? And did not take his chance to claim the #1 spot this year. Maybe Korn gets something out of him in Nashville, but his lack of lateral speed will very likely get exposed the more he plays.

100% agree, here. If Annunen becomes something, even as a serviceable backup goaler, it will be entirely Bednar's fault.
