Honestly...if he can get McDermid off the ice this is a win. ANY useful minutes is better than nothing, and he is a locker room guy. I don't hate it.
He's getting more from Minnesota to play for Colorado, than he is from Colorado to play for Colorado

Almost like the Avs were pissed that Russo leaked he was gonna sign after the All Star Break, so they just signed him early out of spite.

I don't mind this signing, but CMac better view this as more of a cherry on top. That 2nd line C spot needs to be solved and it better be something better than Monahan. And maybe a depth D-man? And that backup goalie...

One of the better players of his generation. Going to be pretty cool to watch him even if he’s not even close to the same player

I’d say the D is set unless they trade Byram or Girard which I really don’t see happening. Avs main needs are 2C and a back up goalie, and maybe a 4C but we can live with Olofsson

This is basically the Tatar replacement. Possibly an upgrade, since he's a PK'er, and a better fit in the bottom six.
His intensity and energy will help the Avs during those rough patches in games too. Another high level competitor.
You just know he's got some big playoff goals left in him too.
