So Auston Matthews is a good hockey player eh?
I'm by no means a stats savvy person but I do get that he's good.
I would love to have someone post a breakdown of exactly what this means but in words :D

The hilarious part about the chart is that the only thing that's negative on him there is that refs don't let him draw any penalties.

If you have time could you breakdown the meanings of the different coloured stats?
I have no clue what evo or evd means

That's a different chart - you posted Goals above Replacement, he posted Expected Goals above Replacement.
Scratching head... When one calculates goals above replacement, one must utilize an expected goal of a replacement level player. I need to think about the ramifications of this. Is goals above replacement useless because it over inflates the effect of puck luck? hmmm

EVo is the goals above replacement effect on offense
EVD....on defense....you get the picture with PP and SH (interesting they dont have SHo but its probably tiny)
Take are penalties taken goals above replacement
Draw are penaties drawn goals above replacement

edit...sorry ev is even stremgth, pp powerplay, sh penalty kill

Evo = even strength offense
Evd = even strength defense
Ppo = power play offense
Shd = shorthanded defense
Take = penalties taken
Draw = penalties drawn

Well they do both because both are valuable.

I would say that they would think that the expected goals model is more of a true talent measure though.

Matthews, Rielly and Campbell could all finish top 5 in the Hart, Norris and Vezina. Matthews might leave with another award as well. What a time to be alive. Now go win a few rounds in the playoffs.
