How close to Wendell can he get this year? Current G/GP pace would give him 23 more goals this year, so around 255-258 at year's end. Not unrealistic for him to push that pace a bit (man, it's incredible that I can think that about a Leaf!!).

77 in 100 is a 63-goal pace over 82 games.

This season he is scoring .75 per game (yeah, slacker is slipping ...) but since he's missed four games he's on pace for only 58, rounded down.

I just don't think you have a grasp on hockey if you truly believe this. The effort was there for Matthews, production wasn't.

I truly think you didn't watch the series and maybe not a single NHL game.

The production wasn't there because of the wrist and he couldn't shoot the puck.

You could see he was laboring somewhat, maybe his back was flaring up as well who knows? You maybe shouldn't make this about his perceived effort or a lack of will, for me he was frustrated with the injuries and it pulled down his game. A guy doesn't get to the NHL by being lazy or afraid, pretty sure he's a guy who has a lot of self belief in his abilities and a drive to be the best.

Honestly don't think AM gets enough talk about having the best release and accuracy in the league on his wrister. Kessel's release (better) with Ovi's pace, it's actually insane.
