I don't buy it. Rumor was he would cost in the 60 million range 48 million sounds like an offer from the interest kings.

Maybe it’s longer than others?

Maybe he just wants to play here?

I’m still skeptical, but we also haven’t seen any “he’s going to NY” or “LA” posts.

All of these social media reporters remind me of a scene from The Wire. They just throw stuff out there and, if it sticks, they can claim they broke it before anyone else. If it's wrong, they find reasons as to why their report was valid and how it fell through. Take credit when things go right, excuse it away when they go wrong.

This “offer” out there right now is the FSG PR machine out at work. It’s the perfect number leaked for them to say “we really really tried” while knowing it won’t be accepted.
You might be right but the rumor is Sox were not going after him but they got it from their guys who hang out and travel in same circles (Ortiz, Devers, Pedro, Manny) that he’s serious - add Cora who all 4 universally love, the park, the Farm, etc you gotta wonder

The Sox need pitching not another OF so gotta be legit

They would then trade players for pitching

If me or you owned this I’m guessing without hardcore legit info coming from someone not named Scott Boras, we’d assume he’s NY bound or maybe a crazy Toronto offer

The Sox are the interest kings perception-wise and deservedly - but they gotta know it and to target Soto without any insider trading makes no sense

To me sign Burnes and trade Yoshida and lower level high end prospects for Rooker - unless, Soto basically says Boston is legit top choice then you sign Soto

Just to add some relatively unimportant info/insight into this…..

I grew up in Lawrence, MA and there is an enormous Dominican population there, so I know a lot of Dominican people and I’ve been told by many of them that when they were playing: Ortiz, Pedro, Manny and now Devers are in the city somewhat often for the Dominican food/culture.

They say it’s the best in the country.

Not saying anyone is signing here because of that, but it can’t hurt.

This joke will always make be chuckle. No matter the player. Where did this originally start
On some Pats message board when Larry Fitzgerald was a free agent. It's evergreen because of how the guy genuinely thought random black guy at the airport was Larry Fitzgerald.

I worked with many people from Lawrence and they used to bring in all sorts of Spanish food from the many restaurants- I am addicted to empanadas among other stuff they brought in

One of my best buds was born in Ecuador and grew up in Methuen and is a phenomenal cook used to bring me in left overs (not easy with 3 kids and a husband) but she knew I loved her cooking. Every party and we had a couple a month she brought them empanadas from the place by the court house - ironically my wife has jury duty their next week and she going over to grab some

Lawrence has spectacular food - you remember Bishop’s ? That was my boss family - used to go there for Flintstone sized prime rib, double stuffed Mashed potatoes, and Baked Alaska for dessert ~ and she would bring in bones for my dog as well - that dog lived like a King

Bishops had the best Prime Rib I’ve ever had.
Used to go there every other Saturday night. Lots of Bruins there too if no game when most of them lived on the North Shore.

Bishops was amazing. That was the special occasion restaurant for us.

Their baked stuffed shrimp was worth a trip from almost anywhere.

Yaz and his father used to go there quite a bit. His dad lived in North Andover for a time.

Jim Rice, Adam Oates, and Bob Sweeney do/did too.

Robert Perryman, short time Patriot brought his kids up here. His daughter still has a couple of NA High track and field records as well.

I don't think Soto wants the Mets everything they touch turns to shit. Hell always be associated with the Nats.

Unless someone gets really stupid and tacks on way too many years I like him to take our offer if they are all close.
