Considering the talent he inherited, Kyle Dubas is the worst hire in the history of the franchise. Said this when he was hired and hoped I'd be wrong. Unfortunately he's been even worse than I imagined (figured with so much talent he'd at least win a round or two by accident)

Nobody should be suprised that someone with zero competitive experience hasn't been able to calculate the formula for winning at the highest level in the most competitive and intense environment. He never had a chance. Kyle Dubas has been asked to map something he's never seen, to a place he's never been. I still can't fathom why anyone thought this map was gong to lead them to success.

No identity, no direction, and very little time until the best player in franchise history can walk as a free agent.

Tick-tock, tick-tock.

It definitely does not, and you attacking and misrepresenting users that point out that fact doesn't change that. Just because you personally believe something incorrect, it does not mean that everybody else in the world feels the same way.

Every "insider" in the game, eh?

Boy, you must have been busy doing interviews.

When the team’s own coach calls the team soft and purposeless, it doesn’t get any more “insider” than that…

The worst part about all this is how many times does Keefe need to call out this roster for being soft and purposeless? It seems like it happens at least once a month if not more. Even our president this off-season made a comment on it. Yet the only thing that really changed with this roster was replacing Mikheyev and Kase with Aston-Reese and Aube-Kubel who are now fighting to even see ice time…

Not sure who is more clueless between Dubas and Keefe. Keefes solution to getting Matthews and Marner going is putting Alex f***ing Kerfoot with them… Or when Matthews and Marner are clearly a step behind in the game, f*** reward them with 27+ minutes hoping they’ll figure something out!

I’d give it until the 15/20 game mark and if things don’t change, something’s gotta happen. Whether that’s firing the GM and/or coach, a major trade, I don’t know but something drastic will need to happen.

Took 4 years for the suits at MLSEL to see it. No clue what the hell Shanny thinks today or whether he is willing to admit, he f***ed it up.

Interesting that comment seems to apply to a lot of “one off” games. Followed by that was “unacceptable” and rinse, repeat.
That comment doesn't apply to many games at all. It applied to one game a year ago. All teams have bad games.

Technically, Muzzin and Murray don’t expire till the end of 2023-24 making close to $10 million.

All well and good if they’re LTIR and out of site out of mind.

But if they’re in and out of health those two contracts will impact even the ability to ice this current under performing roster, which has less cap space to buy a poutine at a Leaf Game.
Murray is pretty cheap fix with buyout, so I don't think that is something that will slow down anyone. Muzzin has turned into bad contract, but might be at LTIR after this season. This club is still very easy to turn around and retool if we choose to go to that direction.

Shanahan has to see it, but he tied himself to Dubas so I think he's just hoping for a miracle.

Most confusing to me is how MLSE hasn't pulled the plug yet. Obviously Rogers paid a tonne of money for the TV rights with the expectations of several Maple Leaf playoff broadcasts. The constant inability to reach even the second round has a significant impact on the bottom line.... Nobody on the board can be happy with all the money they leave on the table every year.

My question is how much longer will they allow it to continue?

I am thinking it will be a full sweep of management after this season if they don't go deep.

Right now, they barely look like a wildcard team.
Don’t go deep? This team may very well miss the playoffs. With the emergence of teams like Ottawa, Montreal and Buffalo all in the same division… Toronto’s window looks to be closed. This team may be rebuilding after this season whether leaf fans want to accept that or not.

The way he went against his own principles and watched Kyle mess up this team. Shanny knows what a winning team looks like! It doesn't look like ZAR, Engvall, NAK, and Malgin! How could he sit back and allow this?

Seems like Florida, Tampa, NYR, LA, Washington, Nashville, Minnesota, and St Louis are all garbage teams now too.

It's shocking how a guy like Shannahan allowed the team to be built into such a purposeless, merri-go-round mess.

How does a guy that shared a locker room with Kelly Chase, a couple of Sutter brothers, Steve Yzerman, Sergei Federov, Vlad Konstantinov, Nick Lidstrom, Kris Draper, Marty Lapointe...etc look at this team and not go nuclear last off season?

It's built nothing like the orgs he had success with.

No real investment in D. No character guys. No salt of the earth guys. Constantly drafting small, skilled wingers and paying bargain bin prices for bargain bin players.

I used to think Lou left him a bad hand, and I still do, but we're way beyond that now. That excuse only lasts a season, maybe 2.

We really went into this season with Holl, Muzzin, Sandin and Gio as guys we were going to lean on.

You leave off darren mccarty?.. shame on you

Larry will figure out a way to back away from his words I am sure .. outright faith in Shanny and Dubie to get us a Cup .. we back them 100% .. we are on da right path to playoff success .. LOL skill never ever wins when their is not enough speed and/or WILL to utilize da skill
