The broadcasts are literally unwatchable as they are. I don’t tune in to hockey to be “educated”. From the hand picked panel to the sponsored commercials, it has a state sponsored feel to it - specifically SN. Because of this, I never watch the game live unless I’m out to watch it with friends or family.

Who cares.
Just like in elimination games, I’m sure he’s going to disappear the moment he can. Doesn’t strike me as a guy that is willing to commit, especially when the going gets tough.
If he wants out though, we better make damn sure we get a kings ransom. Pun intended.
Or we can own-rental him like everyone else? That's fun.

This is such a predictable and easy team to face.

I have no idea what getting the best out of Jarnkrok, Malgin, NAK, ZAR, Holl, Sandin or Kerfoot looks like.
They seem to be playing like they always do.
Seems to be getting the best out of Samsonov. The big 2 and Nylander come and go as they please.
Tavares looks like he's always trying. Really, really slow. But has that trying look on his face.

This coach has never had the respect of his team! You can tell when you watch the Amazon series and how he went to Spezza about every situations as he was the mediator. The players were just happy that it wasn't Babs they were playing for. This management team seems to cast away players like Jack/Freddy for not having the mental game for this team when KD/SK seem to be in the same situation, they have all the pressure on them and you can see that they are cracking. SK has no control and the team is showing it on the ice KD is snapping in the pressbox and were only 8 games in. At this point how can Shanny allow it to continue? The guy played in the NHL and should see what's going on with this team. They have turned on the coach and could careless about the outcome at this point.

Well, it could be the players are somewhat overrated due to inflation.
I think many would suggest Matthews and marner are two of the best ever, and yet I'd take prime age Sittler and Gilmour for a playoffs series over those two.

Technically, Muzzin and Murray don’t expire till the end of 2023-24 making close to $10 million.
All well and good if they’re LTIR and out of site out of mind.
But if they’re in and out of health those two contracts will impact even the ability to ice this current under performing roster, which has less cap space to buy a poutine at a Leaf Game.

Next year might be the time to evaluate Dubas drafting.
I think their heyday of drafting goes back at least a decade.

This season's "outcome" will be decided in the playoffs (or being out of the picture) anything until then is just noise
Three pretty clear options
A. This is a slow start, the team starts rolling, is worthy of upgrades (solidly in divisional playoff spot at Christmas), does well in the playoffs - Dubas stays
B. This is a slow start, the team starts rolling, is worthy of upgrades (solidly in divisional playoff spot at Christmas), chokes again - Dubas goes at end of season
C. The team struggles, come Christmas is only a bubble team. - Dubas goes then, Shanny+ AGM step in as interim. It's not just that. The team how it's been constructed is fundamentally flawed.
We have the big four up front, a very good D in Rielly on the back, and the rest just seems like a mish-mash. A bunch of retreads in the bottom six up front and bottom pairing on D trying to strike lightning in a bottle. No youth to get excited about expect Robertson now, who finally, hopefully, has earned a permanent spot on the roster. The depth is a lot weaker than I expected, and the same issues that pre-date Keefe still are a problem with this group (poor starts to a game, shoddy defence, no intimidation, etc.).

It was really exciting that game Robertson scored his second goal of the game for the OT winner. Him being a legit young player with sniper hands doesn't mean he's a fully rounded NHL player. I think we're seeing that in the games following that performance.
