As always there will be some suffering.

Suffering is the catalyst of growth. Growth - by nature - is a painful process whether speaking physically, mentally or spiritually. A seed does not see itself buried in the cold damp earth, it only seeks the warmth and love of the sun. And yet, it would never have found its 'heaven' if it had not first worked its way through 'hell'.

Its a vicious cycle but we always have the potential to come out better on the other end.

Didn't we already have some "suffering" on this site just a few months ago? Is there a reason why we need more suffering so soon?

Suffering delayed is not suffering denied :)

I must be missing something here. I though after a few goes at it, they managed to migrate to whomever successfully?

If the migration goes right (this time lol) you'll know it. The site interface, features, and many other such things will change. Maybe even for the better!

At least if nothing else we'll quit getting emails about the emperor has no clothes option known as dark mode.

Crossing my fingers!

Would be nice to have a trade deadline day that runs smoothly (**knocks on wood**)!

Who is coordinating and executing the migration? Just out of curiosity. I know there were a ton of issues last year.

No idea, the admins only deal with the site content (I pitch in with certain things a little beyond that but only in service of the content and day to day forum functions). Also I'm a network guy gimmie something to route, icky databases and web stuff. *shudders*

Evolve has techops folks who run this stuff.

The plus side of the way the migration is being done this time (as opposed to when we switched from vBulliten to XF in 2017) is that there should be no downtime whether it's successful or not. I think we were down like 2 days in 2017

I'm in my 30s now, and fully recognize that I'm an old f*** and getting older every day, but I super miss the vBulliten days. Nostalgia is real. Wasted a lot of time here in my youth.

I'm a devops engineer, but have been dipping toes on the network side lately. We're building our product out into a SaaS deployment and getting a grasp on networking and security has been a pretty big priority over the last few weeks. I feel so stupid upon entry so far, ha.
