Florida wins the president's trophy and fires their coach because they wanted someone more experienced to take them to the next level. And they won a round.
Management and some fans praise our coach who can't get by the first round or fix the PP in the playoffs, or adapt to clogging up center, because we're 10 points better in the regular season than 4 years ago,

Yep, the Leafs number one tactical need is to find reliable solutions to break the park the bus defense against us. Either prevent the other team from setting up or find ways to break it.

I'm calling it now, but any time the Leafs are in a close game in the playoffs and you feel like they are dominating zone time and shot count while getting goalied, they are actually more likely to be in trouble than anything else. Bad signs to look for are repetitive cycles around the ozone, looking off mediocre shots for even worse shots, failing to find openings in the slot when coming out behind the net, hesitant, slow paced power play and sluggish movement along the blueline. These are all bad patterns that we are falling into a trap.

Speaks volumes that they are terrified of announcing the GM's extension.

Speaks volumes that you keep repeating the claims of a message boards posters with no evidence.

That's the biggest one to me this year. And I would say it's not just mediocre shots they looked off but legit good ones.

I find it funny that some posters think the fans can affect the management decisions either way.
If that was the case then management is weak and should absolutely be changed.
More then likely the real story is some of us fans see and identify the issues from afar before they do.
We are not attached to any one player or management member but they are are attached to decisions they have made and take longer to change the bad ones………like investing the success killing model of spending 50% of your cap on 4 similar forwards. All 4 are skilled but not a single do or die attitude amongst them.
leaving goal tending almost as an afterthought and then having to scrounge the dumpster bin for 2 new tenders

They could definitely brute force some of those scoring looks more often, just get it on net and not be hesitant to lose it/have to recover it.

See Fletcher reacquiring Wendel, Leafs firing Ron Wilson, Leafs trading Larry Murphy, Leafs afraid to tear it down due to fan response (until Shanny convinced them it was OK).

Not sure if it's realistic anymore or not but I just want to celebrate getting through the first round again. something I haven't gotten to do since highschool. miss what that feels like, even if we fall short of the Cup. I just want to experience some positivity again

I agree back in the day sometimes the fans swayed decision however it hasn’t happened with Shanny.
Shanny had me convinced that he knew what he was doing……until he let Dubas run wild and here we are 6 bloody years of 1st round failure and 8 or 9 years into the shanaplan we don’t even have a serviceable goalie………..we need to find 2 of them for next year.

Hopefully you are young because it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen anytime soon.

Seems Sakic's fortunes changed after talking to Dubas and Leafs closing the window on Sakic (May 2017) and Shanny hiring Dubas as Leafs GM (May 2018). One team went on to win the Cup while the other went on to choke 4 more consecutive times in round #1.

Joes should be thanking his lucky stars that Leafs stopped him in his tracks.

How is it we know they still don't listen to the fans?
Doesn't seem like there is any proof of that.

Sakic had a lucky miss by Dubas not being available?

Leafs gave Sakic permission to talk to Dubas. Three days later they took it away. One year later Shanny let Lou go and replaced him with Dubas. Somebody on HF said that Dubas strong armed Shanny into making him GM. The timeline adds up but no idea if that is true. Since then we have lost 4 consecutive first round matchups and Dubas is still GM. Today Sakic is parading the SC in the streets of Denver while Kadri tells his doubters to kiss his ass. LOL.

Maybe the Leafs really are just unlucky.

Their biggest accomplishment so far is the best regular season in team history.

Not enough, but it's a start.

Not listening to the call in radio set will make sure they keep on the right track, unlike all the other leafs regimes in my lifetime.
Shanahan has been here for 8 years. It's not a start for him, its his peak

Dudes a terrible executive.

Jury is still out on Dubas whose only been here 4 years and maybe Keefe whose gotten 3 years

Agreed. I also want to see something I haven't seen since high school.

But I was in high school in 1967....
