By that logic, your posts are all meaningless.True it's not much compared to @keonsbitterness posts.

I'd never say that.
That would be so depressing. It would be a simple case of F you to leaf nation by ShannyYup what better news for Leaf nation than a Dubas extension. LOL.

Sabres could do some damage next year...Deep/quality draft 3 first round picks in 2022 and early 2nd round pick...Thank you Eichel.Yup its a summer thread!
Once again Leafs have gotten knocked out in the 1st round.
Just charting out some ideas about pros and cons:
Pros
- Team hasn't missed playoffs for 6 years in a row
- Team continuously in a race for first in the division
- Had the best regular season (10 pt increment from the one under Lou/Babs)
- Matthews won Hart, Lindsay and Rocket
- Technically still have a goalie signed (Mrazek); so not going in blind
- Wings, Habs and Sabres potentially still not in the race
- Management: Shanahan, Dubas, Keefe (according to some posters)
Cons
- No #1G, No true #1D
- Cap allocation still baffling (three guys with 11 AAV contracts)
- Matthews, Marner, Nylander have NTCs/NMCs kick in at the end of next season
- Matthews and Nylander will be pending UFAs in 2023-2024 season
- Marner and Tavares pending UFAs in 2024-2025 season
- No quality depth pieces available
- Sens probably the only non-playoff team that might see significant improvement
- Dark horse: Habs -> b/c MSL is awesome and Price maybe back full time and can potentially turn their season
- Tampa is bound to lose Palat next season but can potentially ice the same roster as they have now
- About same for Panthers
- Management: Shanahan, Dubas, Keefe (according to some posters)
- Justin Holl (yes he is a freakin' CON)
Where do you see the Leafs? Whats your realistic expectation? What do you want them to do?
Last year they were around 15:1 ~5th highest. If you recall, even the Toronto media soured on them after the FA signings, so they got a little more enticing odds.Does anyone have the preseason odds handy from last year?
They sold Tannenbaum a few weeks ago, and that’s all that matters. That would be so depressing. It would be a simple case of F you to leaf nation by Shanny
They need to be better than last season and they need:Actually thought this year was a good year for us. Team was not a dumpster fire defensively for the most part. Big step forward from our top players led by Matty obviously. Put together a decent 3rd line at times. PP and PK was much much better than years previous. Young D made some steps toward being everyday defensmen. And in the Playoffs they showed grit and determination which also was lacking. Lost to a very good team in TB in a tough series.
So I expect more of the same good regular season, playoffs and roll the dice.
Biggest concern specifically around goal right now.

Stats and "leadership" matter. Results do notThe one thing that Leafs ownership has had the hardest thing doing in my lifetime is saying F you to the call-in radio set.
Thank god we finally have leadership that can do it.
I'd prefer they care more about what happens on the ice than what's said on the radio.Stats and "leadership" matter. Results do not
They're too busy patting themselves on the backI'd prefer they care more about what happens on the ice than what's said on the radio.
Explains a lot though.
Just because they can say no to the fans doesn’t mean they can do the jobThe one thing that Leafs ownership has had the hardest thing doing in my lifetime is saying F you to the call-in radio set.

If that's their biggest accomplishment, we're in a bit of trouble.
The only time I can recall them listening to the fans was when Burke fired Ron Wilson.Just because they can say no to the fans doesn’t mean they can do the job
Their biggest accomplishment so far is the best regular season in team history.
Not enough, but it's a start.
Not listening to the call in radio set will make sure they keep on the right track, unlike all the other leafs regimes in my lifetime.
