I expect the Leafs to lose in the first round and everyone will have been baited for the journey again. Keefe can't win a series.

I agree with most of this, but would keep Kampf.

And I know Rielly is their rover.
I feel that Kampf was part of the problem, defensively responsible, OK, but that's it and TO's biggest problem was little offensive support from the bottom 6 forwards during the playoffs. Kampf at 1.5 mil. per to defend only is brutal, an overpayment by a team that is Cap strangled, that he played 3rd line minutes both during the regular season and the playoffs was idiotic, TO is seemingly transitioning to becoming more defensively responsible but goals are needed to win and all players should feel responsible to provide offense.

I don't think Kampf was the problem, he didn't send himself out there.

Need a better 3rd. line center.
Kampf can play 4th. line and PK.

Not sure I'd agree with this. Not every player is going to be a balanced two-way guy. We don't blink at having a few offensive first type players - we should feel the same about having a few specialists for the other end of the ice.

There's definite value in having a guy on the ice for 15min a game and being able to rest assured knowing the opposition is very unlikely to score

I'm hoping the team fails miserably, gets a high 1st round pick, and cleans house. Remove Shanahan, Dubas, Keefe. Trade Marner. Tell JT to go f*** himself. Start anew.

Just catching up on other news. Gaudreau signed for 9.75 AAV for 7 years. Even on his UFA contract he is cheaper than Marner. Marner's contract is a freakin' JOKE I tell ya

man... we can use bedard to be honest on ELC

I'd like to see Dubas and Keefe fired. Shanny I could go either way.
shouldve all happened right after the last handshake against Tampa.

They'll struggle to make playoffs I understand that its Day 1 of free agent signing day. I just doubt any big moves will be made to improve this team for October. We're still without a #1 Dman, sorry Morgan you're not it. We've got dick all for cap space to work with to bring in guys who can make an impact. I like the Samsonov signing, despise the Murray trade. I pray to the hockey Gods above, that somehow big moves will be made and that one of the "core"'s contracts will be moved to help improve us before October but i'm not betting the farm on it.

Realistically, the team needs to compete for the cup. Which means Gina’s.

Should have really been to the finals the past two seasons, choked vs Montreal and couldn’t put them away with 3 chances and couldn’t put the lightning away with 2 chances.

5 games that if they won woukd have changed the narrative around this team about not having a killer instinct. I won’t lower my expectations

Unfortunately after seeing the disaster that Dubas has been the last week and today I have to downgrade my hopes and expectation………. he has Malgin back……..really Malgin.
Dubas has no clue what he is doing and Shanny is also clueless

My worry is we actually somehow make it past the first round of the playoffs, then lose in the second round and Dubas keeps his job because it's seen as progress that we finally got past the first round.

This team is going nowhere why we have 4 players taking up so much of the cap and Dubas flat out refuses to trade any of them.

im hitching my hope on goaltending thinking this will be the best Tandem the leafs have had in years!

My expectation is to have no interest in next season right now which is just sad as a life long fan. Crucify me if you want but I just see a window wasted by a management team who hasnt won a thing. And who can't adapt to playoff hockey

A UFA deal coming off a season where he scored 40 GOALS and 115 POINTS. And nominated for several awards (or shoulda been). And won a round. And it's years later, with higher precedents despite the stagnant cap.

And it's not even like he went to sunny Florida or the bright lights of New York or anything. f***ing Ohio.

A management team and players that haven’t won a thing yet paid like kings

What do I want? An actual playoff run

What do we get? Could be anything between a playoff run & another 1st round exit. There's too much talent on the roster for them not to make the playoffs, and as we saw last year, they can make the playoffs easily without goaltending. League average goaltending probably wins them the division last year.

There’s no way in hades they’re going into the season with the current roster, including Engvall and Sandin. There has to be something else in the works.

Genuine question, so please don't take offense:

Based on what?
Murray is currently injured, per overdrive today.

It’s July, unless he’s planning a surgery will it even be an issue in September?

I dont really get offended so thats fine lol, I just have a feeling Murray has a passion to win here, I mean he was really close to his dad, grew up watching leafs hockey with him, he said putting on that jersey for the first time will be special, he has a winning pedigree, 2 times sc champion, think him working with Sanford will be beneficial, plus the leafs have a very good team of mental health, and doctors, Samsonov I think will be a good goalie, just something about a big goalie if he finds his groove he will be fine, I mean this is just my opionion, could be right or wrong, its just what im feeling!

Realistic expectation is Cup Win.
Realistic result is First Round Exit.
Lol.

I think both Murray and Samsonov will be okay in the regular season like Campbell and whoever for the Leafs this past season.

The boys will score esp if Gio plays the QB role instead of Reilly on PP1.

Then Murray will steal a series or two for the Leafs in the playoffs.

Team making the playoffs is a given.

Getting past the first round is going to the focus point again.

It will likely be against Tampa or Florida and I don’t see them winning the first round.

Dubas, Keefe, Shanahan all fired.

Then there will be talk of Mathew’s not possibly signing with the Leafs.

Guaranteed to be another disappointing end to the season :)

Good night!

*i have found no reports he's actually injured, but my god would it be hilarious if a day after joining the dude stepped on a twinkie and broke his foot*
