Weird that people didn't know about this before? Did we know but Friedman forgot?
edit:
PuckPedia didn't know either, only confirming and changing the site after.

Because not giving them out means huge premiums that can be difficult to fit under the cap.I don't understand why so many NHL teams hand out NTCs and NMCs to unremarkable players.
helps signing the guys they wanna sign, prob shouldnt just hand em out like candy but u know they do anywaysI don't understand why so many NHL teams hand out NTCs and NMCs to unremarkable players.
Also said they were looking at moving Kane, who would only waive for a contender. LMAO
How to ruin two top three players in the world, a master class of incompetence, co authored by Ken, Pete, and Stan.
What a hilarious disaster.
I half disagree, the shelf life on GM’s are actually quite long. Also bowman just got there, he’s not going anywhere for another 5 yrs plus. It’s coaches that have a short life span with a team. The gm just presses the fire gm button, see Boston, they have done it twice in the last 4 years and both won the jack adams! LolBecause not giving them out means huge premiums that can be difficult to fit under the cap.
NMC/NTC's are "free" from a cap perspective and get you a significant discount. GMs don't plan for the future. They have relatively short shelf lives.
As fans, we always plan for the future... but coaches and GMs plan to win now. Later is the next guy's problem.
Didn't something similar happen a few years ago with Ottawa? They weren't aware a player on their roster had a No Trade List and traded him to a team on that list?

If guaranteed money from a contending team isn't enough for guys in the twilight of their careers, move on. There's always other fish.helps signing the guys they wanna sign, prob shouldnt just hand em out like candy but u know they do anyways

Average NHL GM tenure is 5.5 years. Signing guys to long contracts with NTC/NMC will probably not be their problem.I half disagree, the shelf life on GM’s are actually quite long. No. The team is fully aware of the contracts. It just wasn’t public knowledge.Didn't something similar happen a few years ago with Ottawa? They weren't aware a player on their roster had a No Trade List and traded him to a team on that list?

Because they think about it now.I don't understand why so many NHL teams hand out NTCs and NMCs to unremarkable players.
it just doesn't work that way, players dont wanna sign if they dont have to and question if they will have to move, they sign and get these NTC for their families. If guaranteed money from a contending team isn't enough for guys in the twilight of their careers, move on. There's always other fish.
That was Dadonov and it lead to the Vegas thing with Anaheim for which Ottawa was punished... despite him being Vegas' responsibility when they tried to move his salary.
