News Article: article getting bern seal of approval

Lots of hockey remaining in the season and we likely will have some injuries along the way which will give them more minutes . Gauthier keeps playing well and handle the responsibility he likely could be a fixture long term on the bottom 6 unless he wants too much in his next deal........and I think we all know Kravs likely does not have a long future as a Ranger and the best we can hope for is he turns the jets on and we can include him in a deal rather than losing a 1st rounder or prospect .

It's honestly a crappy article. Some questionable assumptions and opinions in there. Gauthier can be a difference-maker. Gerard Gallant decided to send Kravtsov to Hartford to avoid losing Dryden Hunt. Gallant preaches defense first. Blah blah.

"Kravtsov should play more. Gauthier should have a more consistent role. They're both likely better than some of the other players the Rangers have regularly deployed. The end." I just wrote this same article in three sentences.

I can see the case for giving Gauthier more time than Kravtsov right now.

Blais is fine right now as a 4th liner which is basically where Vesey should be.

Goodrow is a Swiss Army knife. A very good 3rd liner who you can move around to plug holes and is very good when it comes to pretty much every unappreciated situation that can pop up.

I don't like the idea of Kravtsov as a 4th liner. He needs to play with more creative players. He's not a grinder......and every team needs grinders.

bold: don't assume
sure, the right deal w/good enuf return, fine
but it is healthier for this organization to admit its mistakes
admit in this case bern was right and Drury was wrong
accordingly bend buckle and break
and deal Vesey to get Krav max mins
enjoy his production/up his value.

Only after value sufficiently upped should we even consider a trade.

Anything else is sucker's play.

Succinctness is a virtue, but guy can't be faulted for providing context, which is more important.

Bottom line is regardless of quality of delivery, the points made are correctimundo!

Team needs to up scoring, esp 5 x 5, which means finishers, snipers also.
Krav is potentially that but hell yeah, not on 4th line.

My revised recommendations for mid Dec. '22:
Blais still recovering from severe injury; functional, but not sure he's making cuts etc optimally.
Should go on LTIR for a month or so, focus exclusively on max rehab emphasizing movement specialists.
In the meantime, I think you get like 5 games looks see before whatever it is kicks in, so call up

4 games each to spell Blais
each gets rewarded w/cup o coffee taste = incentive
Blais gets better faster not having to go full NHL tilt

You can't just throw someone on LTIR without a reason. Even if he's not 100% back to where he was he's not injured.

I don't mind Blais as a 4th liner for now. He hits and grinds well enough. Actually he hits a lot and he hits hard. Basically he gives us what Reaves gave us last year without nearly as much of the shoddy defensive play and getting stuck out on long shifts gassed. I'm fine with that. I just don't see the goal scoring upside that he'll ever be more than a 3rd liner when he is back to 100%.

Vesey doesn't belong in the top 6 and is best on the 4th. His penalty killing has been good. He sneaks a puck into the net once in a while.

As for Kravtsov---his defensive play has been better than expected. He seems to have gotten past his early season every game injury issues. I don't think even with regular ice time in our top 9 he's going to score a lot. When he's played he's not wowed me at all. He's been okay for the most part but not a big offensive threat. Maybe some day--maybe with some other team.

Skinner? As a forward callup? He's a defenseman and playing in the ECHL. At best he's an average prospect. Odds are he'll never play in the NHL. Rempe's chances of making the NHL right now are as a goon. If he's going to be a real NHL player he needs more time to develop.

I think Gauthier deserves more ice time. I haven’t seen him play like he has been before. He’s not looking like a scrub the past few games but more time will tell.

- Skinner IS listed at CF as RD. Howev, our internal prospects thread has him listed as "D/RW".
This is 4th line stopgap cup o coffee we are talking about, not a legit real shot at extensive mins. Those guys I mentioned all have desired size+tuffness for checking line, so no worries there.
And again, not looking to sideline Blais extensively. Like 6 wks or so

On Kravtsov, I don't think his solid defensive play is unexpected. He made major strides there in the KHL, it was actually one of the things that was commented on the most. I would get into arguments about him but I never said he wasn't developing, since his overall game developed a lot. It was just the offense that didn't develop like I hoped and I'm not sure if ever will. I don't think he's that dynamic, honestly. I'll stick with 35-45 point two-way guy, which is still a nice player.

On Hunter Skinner, I list him as D/RW because last season in Hartford he had several games where he played on the wing. It's hard to truly understand what's going on there due to lack of media coverage, so it's not totally clear if it was something they did when they were short on forwards or if they did it because they wanted to see if he could play forward. I suspect more of the former than the latter. Now he's in Jacksonville and I have no idea how he's being used. He's definitely primarily a defenseman and to my knowledge had not played forward before last season.

Krav, the rest of it you covered, very well stated, thank you.
Offensive production, I am only asserting there seems to be ample raw material to succeed, but higher end talent usually needs higher end linemates to optimally succeed/best #s.

Skinner again, pt was if you get Blais time off to fully rehab, then give 4-5 guys 4 or so games each at 4th line as stopgap.
Skinner is obv not a finished product.
I project MAYBE when Trouba's 8m forces his trade in 2 yrs, Schneider up to 2RD and Skinner competes for 3RD.
But 4 games each this season and next should not hurt anybody
