Anyone else have an arterial myxoma? Cardiologist found it in my heart after an echocardiogram. Next step is a transesophageal echocardiogram to get a better look at the sucker. Once that done, surgery to remove it.

Basically it's a benign tumor that grows inside the heart, most often the left atrium which is where I have it.

I believe that's an ATRIAL myxoma (i.e., inside your atrium). I've never been diagnosed with one, but I have suffered from one of the several symptoms typically associated with it (syncope) about 10 months after my heart attack & a single stent insertion. I can only assume yours was first diagnosed from either a syncope or an arrhythmia, as echocardiograms are not a routine test. However it was discovered, it's a very good thing that your cardiologist found it and that she/he has plans for further diagnosis then removal. Good luck, and keep a positive spirit. Even "Not a nice guy" can get through this. :thumbu:

It was found by accident as the great year I am having I have been confirmed to have an autoimmune disease, specifically Lupus. My heart rate has been a lot high than normal for a few months so my family doctor referred me to a cardiologist. My heart muscle is fine, the cardiologist said the Holter test and ECG were all normal as was the echocardiogram except for Myxoma. He explained that the medication and stress/joint pain I have been living with are the likely cause of the higher heart rate.

@beowulf : Crazy how often exploring/treating one medical problem leads to discovery of another. I hope the cardiac treatments make it easier for your medical team to address your lupus (ironically or intentionally related to your screen name?). Outcomes these days are dramatically more positive than they were 35 years ago when my wife & I had a 20-something coworker who suffered from lupus. Learn all you can about the disease & your symptoms, and help your health care pros help you. You are in my prayers.
