Someone stop this bald mad man - 15 points in 9 games carrying Rangers to first place

People were hard on him last year. I mean he deserved it to an extent but there is no questioning how great of a player Panarin is when he is on his game.

It wasn’t only the playoffs the last two years. It was the regular season also. The playoffs was a worse version of the playoffs because the PP is less of a factor in the playoffs and the game is faster and more physical. If he can sustain his great play in the regular season, I’ll feel better about his chances of showing up in the playoffs.

The first goal today wouldn’t have happened the last two years. He hasn’t went to the net in a few years. He’s one of the best forwards in the league when he’s willing to go to the middle of the ice.

I wonder how much it was a Gallant problem.

I think it was. Gallant demanded nothing of the players. He’s a man manager. Not a coach.

Not saying Laviolette is great, but I think he’s willing to hold Panarin accountable (hello Kuznetsov) for playing lazy and I think Panarin knows that, so he’s playing a little different brand of hockey.

I think Panarin developed some bad habits under Gallant and Gallant never bothered to correct him. All the lessons Torts pounded into him in Columbus, he forgot. He's doing those things again and we're seeing the dividends.
