Around the NHL

Tampa just traded their 2026 and 2027 1st rounders. Theoretically that should remove the top 10 protection on the pick we have of their this summer, although they would have to catastrophically crater the rest of the season for it to matter

Hopefully there is some karmic balance that will make up for the TB and VGK picks trending right now at #26 and #30... not much different than our 2nd at #35... meanwhile, if we are losing ground on those 1sts... hopefully it gives us a little boost in the lottery with our top pick.

Atlanta blows with whatever wind is favorable in damn near every sport. So yes, it is highly likely that an NHL franchise will fail there for a third time, but I guess the owners in Canada are playing 4D chess and want their share of the expansion fees AND the likelihood that the franchise eventually moves to the Great White North,.

Houston is a big no from the get go. They are the 3rd or 4th largest media market in the country and couldn't support an NFL team, let alone an NHL team. Dallas is hardcore about the Stars, but there will not be the same kind of enthusiasm in Houston. Both cities would be an obvious moneygrab designed for abject failure.

At least we won't have to lose two of Svechkov, Kemell, Wilsby, Stastney, L'Heureux, etc on waivers or trade them for 2027 4th round picks. Two of them will get claimed in the Expansion Draft. :sarcasm: :help:
