These moves make no sense, if they needed cap space they should've just let Cally walk. Purcell is better and cheaper.

Come in man Cally does all the little things right while Purcell does produce PTS but isn't the better overall player

Nate Thompson dealt now . 1.6 per . That's the going rate to resign Moore or get a mclement .lijely more actually

I'd gladly re-sign Moore for 1.6 per. Hell, that's what Dorsett got...

It was on snyrangersblog yesterday that Moore is seeking between 1.6 and 1.8.

If the Rangera don't sign him to that deal, they must be 10000000000% confident (and better be correct) that Oscar Lindberg is ready to take that spot and be equally as effective in that spot as Moore was.

Looks like we could potentially have Miller and Lindberg taking the two open center positons.

In Sather's draft interview, he said they expect Miller to step up and take a spot. Didn't specify center or wing. But its obvious they mean center.

The Habs just robbed the Avs blind:

Cuz #FancyStats. Nevermind that the Avs just saved $4M off of next year's cap and added a veteran leader who is a proven playoff performer.

Who's also 36, played in the bottom six all season while putting up less than 30 points, and who put up less than .5 PPG in the playoffs. if Briere is still a proven playoff performer, then so is Stepan (but you'll never get this board to agree to that).

4 million off the cap is the only benefit. Briere is done.

Not the only benefit. They have tons of young forwards who can learn for a year from Briere and then they can use the $4M that would have been wasted on PA Parenteau and put it towards their better players.

How much are they going to learn from a year with Briere?

The 4 million is the only tangible benefit, like I said. Inferno is right, but no use trying to make Briere seem better than he actually is by decrying statistics, which is the new meme on this board.

Sorry, I never got the memo where one playoff negates a history of nearly a PPG in the post season.

Avs don't need him to play anywhere but the bottom-six, so not sure what that has to do with it.

It does when you're gonna be 37. This was his first year consistently in the bottom 6 of a team. It's the new Danny Briere. He's not gonna put up 30 points in the playoffs again.

The 4 mil is big considering their UFAs. But that's it.

My problem was with you criticizing statistics that added a lot more to the analysis of the trade.

They don't really add much when the purpose of the trade had little to do with statistics.

Shorter contract. Veteran presence. Better playoff pedigree. Pretty straight forward without the need to try and waive the analytics flag and say a team got fleeced.

Del Zotto done in Nashville?
Sounds like the Preds don't want him anymore

JoshuaCooper @JoshuaCooper · 12m
Poile said they have not made a QO to Del Zotto. Exploring trade, contract or maybe not qualifying him

JoshuaCooper @JoshuaCooper · 9m
Poile said Del Zotto is "not a fit" currently with Nashville

JoshuaCooper @JoshuaCooper · 8m
We'll know his situation more tomorrow. He'll either be traded, signed or not qualified

was just announced MDZ is going UFA

Wow, I thought today was July 1st. I love being self-employed, but the fact that I just rolled out of bed at 5pm and generally don't know what day it is can be awkward at times.

I can only laugh.
Nate Thompson sent to Anaheim for a 4th and 7th
meanwhile Purcell and Crombeen on get a 6th
what is this? is this real life?

Thompson I don't get.

Purcell is MAJORLY disappointing and they could probably only find one taker. Yzerman wanted to free up cap to sign someone, I don't think he cared about the return.

Straight cap dump.

Geez, how much does Stralman want? $4.5m+?

Larry Brooks (troll of the earth but he does get legit news so take it with a grain of salt) said that someone offered him 5m for 4/5 years. No way the rangers should match that in my humble opinion.

I think Stralman is great but I also think he benefits a lot from having Staal as a line mate.

Spezza to DAL.

Jason Spezza has been dealt to the Dallas Stars pending a trade call. Involves substantial prospects and avails cash for other trades. #Sens
