I don't think there is anything groundbreaking here. I would say a vast majority slow down as they age. The idea is the player gets protection and the club gets a lower AAV. Then they both deal with it in the final 2-3 years, whether through injury, retirement or paying assets to my be the contract.

The Sabres had to play that ridiculous 3 weeks and luckily didn't dig a hole for themselves. They went into the ASG window with 2 games in hand on a few teams, but still one point out of the playoff cutoff. How far behind are they going to be with game played when they get back from their bi week, and what type of insane pace are they going to have to maintain while needing to get points from 75% of their games?

The lad was asking me who were some of the best defensemen of all time the other day and I was struggling to remember Doug Harvey's name. And so here he is, as my social media gives me the bird.
