I injured my left shoulder after falling on concrete like a decade ago. Still occasional pain and general lack strength till this day. However, I don't have access to the physical therapists/doctors these guys have access to though

I always wondered, do fans of the whatever NHL team they followed before they got a team, do they just up and diss the original team they liked? I just wonder about fans in the new teams arena going nuts and giving themselves monikers....on a side note there’s too many teams.
Pretty much. Theres an adjustment period but after 5ish years the allegiance is changed completely. My buddy in Nashville was a die hard Giants fan until the Titans moved there. He says he still has a soft spot for the Giants but its not the same as having your own team.
The OG Islander and Devils fans were all Ranger fans (some flyer fans) before. Im sure some OG Amerks fans were around at the Islander expansion... but for the most part it was Rangers fans on Long Island. The Islanders were only a thing to remove WHA influence from the area.
Mets fans were all Giants and Dodgers fans as well. My grandfather said he never experienced a heartache as bad as the Giants moving to San Fran but he loved the Mets like a second wife.

He got seriously out manned in that hit. The knock on him and his lack of size kinda came to fruition there. Lauzon is a bigger guy at 6'2, 210 , but he isn't exactly a train. Just an awkward position with all of the weight on the wrong spot. That'll do it.

Stinks for the Devils, he was really playing well.

I separated my shoulder in college after getting tripped on a breakaway and slamming into the end wall. I was back about a 2 weeks later but it took a few months to get it back to strength, but it took longer to get it back to close to 100%.

A dislocation is much more serious because the joint comes apart but luckily for Jack he didn't tear any ligaments which would required the knife and a much longer recovery period.

Shoulders are a pain and can become a nagging injury if you have to use them often after the injury, but he has a great training staff at his disposal so I'm sure hell be taken care of and given the proper rehab program. You dont want to rush back from this though.

My guess is hell be out 2-4 weeks. Likely the later timeframe or possibly more

My old man was a Rangers fan before the Islanders came to town (Nassau County guy). He told me how thrilled he was to have a team on The Island. Even though he was born in Brooklyn and his family was from there he spent most of his childhood on the North Shore and identified with that. He always got into the rivalry but never really hated the Rangers. In fact him rooting for the Rangers 30 years ago is what got me interested in hockey and the Rangers. We were a split fandom household because of it. Of course I still got the shit end of the stick with the Mets and the Jets.

that’s the thing barzal is built like a truck from the waist down. Hughes is built like Connie from the Mighty Ducks

Yeah but Connie could get physical when she needed to...

Being from the Island too that is a cool and interesting story man. Most folks I knew on the south shore were strictly Isles/Mets/Jets with me being one of the only ones in my neighborhood who was Yanks/Rangers/Giants. Grandpa was a Yanks/Rangers fan. Grandma wound up not really giving a shit until the Isles came around. She was devout and my pops has many heartbreaking tales about their cups just being boasted about by grandma. When she passed I found she had a bunch of merch from throughout the years, Luongo hype merch is my favorite part tho.

Sam Bennet is gonna be the one that got away from the Rangers

Gorts was sleepin'. He does everything Drury want's the players he brought in to do, but can also put the puck in the net. Wasn't on my radar until some posters on this board started hyping him last year, but I can totally see why now.

This is literally the same thing with me and my dad. Word for word. Well, except that he now loathes the Rangers.

My dad was born in '51. He grew up a Rangers fan as the Islanders didn't exit in his childhood. By the time the Islanders came into existence, he'd moved out of town so he'd have no connection to the new team. He's still a Rangers fan. And I'm one as well, though he came back to NY and I grew up on Long Island.

My dad was born in the bronx in ‘56. Grew up a Rangers fan but moved to LI in like 1982. Worked in Manhattan and had frequent NYR tickets through work, but favored the Islanders as they were “his own local team”. I was born in ‘86. Out literal next door neighbor was on the Islanders and my folks were friends with a bunch of Islanders and they had a hand in teaching me to skate and stuff, but the trips on the train to MSG were always so much more special and then we won the Cup when I was 8 and that was that. My dad has kind of mixed allegiances but clearly favors the Islanders.

DeAngelo not being here is mostly on him, but this team misses his skill set dearly.

Buch being gone is whatever - He's not the type of guy who is going to get your through the playoffs and throwing a head butt when you play a sport where you can literally engage in mutual combat with someone and not get arrested for it is a bitch move. f*** that guy.

DeAngelo's loss has been palpable from the second he got booted. We're much worse 5v5 with out him.
