You know, if we werent so set with our Centers......yeah, I know, I know.....Strome sucks. We do have him for NEXT year as well.
Watching the Ducks/Wild game........I am kind of contemplating "if" we went after Getzlaf.

He is HUGE, he used to get down and dirty.....not sure now.
He is a Stanley Cup winning Center that actually wins FO's.
Good on PP. I mean, even despite his age, would it be unfathomable to get that kind of "personality" and oh yeah, he is Captain material. I mean, I probably wouldnt be a great GM, but there are some "pros" to think about here.
Cons? He is 35, best years behind does his size help make up for that?

Okay, great points by "ex-players" in Jones and Sharpie. So then, it BEGS the question .......WHY have live mics and subjecting the NHL into having this issue? They had to have KNOWN, that this could happen.
Hypothetical; Okay, I am looking to kill someone, but I shouldn't tell you. I shouldn't be saying this over the phone......but, I will take that chance. And then by some other means or even ME, the person ends up dead. Am I guilty, just because I said that? Am I GUILTY because I was TOLD to do such as the NHL league wide memo? Hmmmm, see what I mean?

For real, when I watched the 2015 NHL Draft Lottery and Edmonton won instead of Buffalo, at the time, it felt very glitch-in-the-Matrix to me. They were so bad and desperate for a superstar. Watching the team now...definitely seems like a bad omen in retrospect.

I know...I know what the odds were, I know Eichel is still really good, I know the Sabres have 50,000 unrelated issues, and I know the Oilers aren’t exactly Cup favorites even now, but watching the Sabres tonight, how can you not think back to that day? Like something in the universe just went awry for a brief moment; the opposite of a miracle.

Kind of had the same obscure feeling when that insane 2011 Canucks team lost the SCF in Game 7 at home. They’re definitely twins, that’s for sure.

Karma for them winning the Gilbert Perreault sweepstakes

Like you can’t make up the shit that’s gone wrong for this team over the last 5-6 years.

The tanking.

Losing the McDavid lottery.

Trading away a “locker room cancer” for nothing then watching him immediately win a Conn Smythe*

Drafting a defenseman 1st overall.

Starting a season red-hot then crumbling down and down...in two consecutive seasons.

Part I: Giving an outrageous contract to Jeff Skinner, who swiftly decline.

Part II: Giving an outrageous contract to Taylor Hall, who swiftly decline.

Doesn’t the owner’s wife occupy a very high-profile position while having no related experience too?

*...not to mention the return, I think one players was arrested for something drug-related, the second player retired and/or went to Europe, and the third player just sucked?)

They are headed for this again this year too with Power.

And yeah, Pegula's wife is EXTEMELY hands on with the team.
Yeah, people saw the splashy additions of Hall an Staal and thought they were great moves for this team and they would take the next step. Yet the unsexy moves are the ones that make all the difference, they keep hiring the wrong coaches and they cannot find a legit goalie. Also their blue line was underrated in how shitty it was coming into this season. People just looked at the fwd lineup and thought "ZOMG STACKED!" People like to dismiss "dinosaurs" like Lou Lams but he knows how to win in this league. It starts with coaching, and a solid foundation of depth players. Then the stars are the sprinkles on top that put you over the edge. Sabres are all sprinkles. But their top end players are not at the level of Edmonton's so they can't even find Edmonton's level of "success"

I am truly hoping this will finally kill the myth of “Taylor Hall: Perennial League MVP”. I thought I was taking crazy pills hearing “pundits” on NHL network say with a straight face that they were gonna be good.
