DJ Smith, an experienced former AHL coach that has worked with top prospects and earned a role in the NHL as an assistant working with high end talent now finding success and getting the most out young prospects and players at the NHL level. Imagine that.

After we fired AV the guy I really wanted was Keefe. Shame we were never really in on him who knows how different things would be if we did

If this was a normal season, something would have already happened in Calgary.
Very true!!! They are letting their season slip away after making two nice acquisitions in Markstrom and Tanev.

idk - a normal season they would have more time. I would think a move would happen this season b/c its so much shorter and can slip away quicker.

Derek Stepan will miss the rest of the season due to a damaged labrum in his dislocated shoulder

Duchene got Colorado Girard and Bryam
To be fair, Girard while he was a decent prospect was dealt from a position of strength for Nashville (at that time lol, they would love him now), and no one expected Ottawa to become a lottery team. While it was a haul for Sakic and did turn Colorado around, it wasn't perceived as such a huge victory for Colorado at the time of the trade.

I suppose. That franchise was born on 3rd base though, so its not surprising to see them get so lucky

Lucky and lucky... They also lost the draft lottery 2 times in 3 years, dropping twice from 1st to 4th. Of course looking back, getting Makar and Byram is not so much of a loss really... :naughty:

They even got lucky by being unlucky, had they won the lottery in 2017 no way would they have taken Makar or Pettersson or Heiskanen 1st, they would have gone Hischier or Patrick. When it was actually beneficial to get #1 , they got it (2013).

Crosby. Covid Protocol. Ouch.

Hope it's a false positive.

Sidney Crosby placed on COVID list ahead of Penguins' game against Flyers
I don't know whether this is because of a rapid antigen, or a PCR test, but PCR tests don't give false positives. You can get a 'false' positive when the sample is contaminated because of bad handling, but there are no actual false positives. It's a political talking point.

Edit: covid protocol doesn't even mean positive test.

Varly loses the shutout in the dying seconds to New Jersey. Devils did that to Ullmark a few games back. Either way, Varly is probably going to win the Vezina at this rate.
