As bad as we've been, a win tomorrow and we leapfrog the Isles. Same record but better diff.

Jeez, hadn’t realized they've been as miserable as us. Hate to say it, but NJ even with all their quirks and lack of talent is the best team so far in the tri state area.

Devils have COVID cases on their team. The Rangers have the Devils on their schedule Saturday.

Not Ranger related, but I think this grand divisional experiment is going to expose the type of hockey that wins games, and the ones that don't. The disparity is pretty obvious early on, unlike the regular regular season, you don't have those favorable match-ups to create a balanced sense of parity. Based on my tracking I would say the teams who are struggling with the following will be on the bottom tier quickly.
  • Out-of-shape goaltender
  • Bad defense 5v5
  • Can't score on the PP
  • Bad PK
You also have McDavid and Draisaitl who are only going to face one back-end that will play them hard, they are going to absolutely molest the softer defenders this year. Just caught some highlights, they are toying with guys out there.

In case you missed it, Joel Farabee had a hat trick last night. He was my guy in 2018. I know @Edge liked him too.

Still have hope for Kravtsov and was fine with the pick at the time but Joel looks to be the real deal. Complete player.
the real question....

would he be doing that here? doubt it.

I didn't ask his ice time. Would he be doing that in David Quinns system and on this team. I have my doubts.
I didn’t realize we’ve reached the point of missing AV.

PHI

PHI

You are over the top defensive with Quinn.

So, I assume your answer is 'Yes, Farabee would be producing here'

and people do not want AV... they want a NHL coach that's not in over his head. Quinn served his purpose, his time is almost up.

McDavid and Draisaitl are 24 and 25 respectively, and have been out of the first round only once in their careers. The Oilers are struggling again this year and RNH is in the last year of his deal.

How many more bad seasons will those two endure before they decide that the only way to win a cup is elsewhere?

Oh, nostalgia...

“Not ranked: Philadelphia Flyers –They’re 7-2-1, good for 15 points and a share of first in the East. On a points percentage basis, they’re a top 10 team in the league. Their top five forwards are all scoring at or close to a point-per-game pace. Ivan Provorov is getting a ton of ice time and seems to be taking another step towards the elite tier.

All that is good. It’s good, right?

And yet… if you didn’t know what the standings looked like, you could be forgiven for thinking this is a team in crisis. Last year’s leading scorer was just a healthy scratch. The coach is calling players out. Recent headlines have been about “poor process” and “early problems.” And let’s just say that among at least a certain segment of Flyer fans, the angst is palpable.

OK, yes, the angst is always palpable among Flyer fans. But this seems like a lot, even for them. So what’s the deal? These guys are good, right?

Well, maybe not. A lot of the concern about Philadelphia these days focuses on shot counts, and yeah, the Flyers are getting pummeled. They’ve been outshot in 9-of-10 games, including six where the gap was double digits. Some of that has come against good teams like the Bruins and Penguins, but they were also outshot 37-22 by the Sabres and 34-17 by the Devils.

Not surprisingly, their possession numbers are also ugly. Expected goals percentage is too, hovering in the low 40s. It’s not translating to the scoreboard because of some strong goaltending performances from Brian Elliott and a sky-high team shooting percentage, and you old-school PDO fans know how that combo usually ends.

Add it all up, and the Flyers look like the classic team where the record says things are fine, but the warning lights are blinking all across the dashboard.

...they’ve literally become the Rangers.

Haha classic AV hockey. It's good until it's not and then it's a big problem.

Really like the 5:30 & 8:00 PM double header on Wednesday. Remote jobs, and kids getting home schooled means less time on the road. Gives your audience some flexibility to have the game playing while cooking/eating dinner. Smart move to see if this will net you some overlapping viewerships.
