Kadri wasn't making that impact they were seeking, and he always appeared to be a previous-era Leaf next to Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly, etc.

Yea, he’s a different type of player... which they now lack who was on a good contract. I’m not sure what “previous era” matters. I think resigning Kreider was a mistake, but not bc he was from a “previous era.”

He was there 10 years. That's an era. Not to mention he was a bit of a head case. They decided to build their core with their young guns. Don't disagree they lost his grit, but now they've over-compensated with those new signings.

The simulated crowd noises are really bad.... they're far too often completely incongruous with what's happening on the ice. They were playing at Scotiabank and there are cheers and applause for Carey Price saves. Buzzing when Montreal breaks out. Just silly.

Leafs have a lot of talent but keep setting themselves back with bad decisions. Kadri / Barrie trade was trash for them. Sticking with Babcock for too long. Not being proactive about finding a guy to actually challenge Andersen. No diversity in the way they can win games. They can't win those tight checking games where the skill guys are getting shut down.

People see getting elite talent as the final hurdle in building a winner. The truth is that's when the real work begins. You need to surround those players with great depth and keep it coming while managing to keep things positive among the players.
Buying Tavares when it was a luxury and not a necessity will be a main reason why that team will never win as currently constructed.

I’m gonna say it the Rangers are going to have the most dangerous team offensively in the East division And IMO the best goaltender

Would be nice to see how many points guys like Zibby or Panarin or even Lafreniere would score in that North Division

I don't know what to make of those Oiler unis.

i think its pretty cut and dry. They're horrible.

even Worse than these :

They also could have just kept Kadri and Marner while passing on Tavares. IIRC the Leafs had a top-5 offense before signing Tavares.

...but those PJs, man, those damn PJs...

Yep, this. They just needed to build a competent group behind Matthews/Marner with Nylander as the core piece and they likely would've been better off. Instead they just couldn't resist flexing their checkbook at the first opportunity to do so.
