I feel like I am saying this about a team every other week but I feel bad for Buffalo fans.

It must be miserable to have such an embarrassing team to the point your superstar doesn't want to play there, and then have to convince yourself that everything is fine while things point to the opposite lol

I don't have to imagine such a life, for you see I am Jets fan.

Thanks for this. I personally wouldn't want anything to do with this kid. But then stepping back I had the same questions / issues that Ken brought up:

1. Before Coyotes, Mitchell Miller already received an opportunity and a scholarship from UND, a placement with USHL, opportunity with OHL etc. Should these other organization be put to answer too?

2. How long would it take for this kid to pay for his offenses committed when he was 14-yo?

Yes. Hockey in NA is one massive old boys club full of enablers and disgusting people. They have just as much responsibility.

He committed them throughout high school and he must spend time and effort giving back to a community he harmed. Donate or volunteer for mental health, anti-racist, or anti-bullying causes. Denounce them in all forms and lead a charge against a society that allowed him to commit the wrongs he did. None of this "I'm sorry for the geneva-convention violating bullying I did" shit. You make adult mistakes, you make an adult effort to atone for them.

This Mitchell Miller kid is an unapologetic sack of shit. Vancouver had him on their DND list after they knew about the incident, and I hope 29 other teams did too (doubtful, I know)

Also, who gives a crap about the fact he did this when he was 14? This isn't just some "boys will be boys" thing that people normally do for young teenage guys. It transcends that. Using his age as an excuse for the behavior is weak af and doesn't actually solve anything, it just perpetuates and normalizes the behavior.

Agree with everything but where did you get throughout high-school? What I read mentioned him being 14 which corresponds to him being a freshman if not in junior high.

It would be one thing if he showed remorse and took active steps to show it, to give back etc. but apparently he hasn’t and us tried to hide from it , there’s really no redeeming factor here. His career is pretty much DOA now that this story has blown up (even though hockey prospect nerds have known about this for a long time)

Yeah, I'm usually sympathetic to guys who f*** up as teens, particularly when they're basically middle school-aged. This is one of those things, though, that is like psychopathy. When you abuse another person to that degree, purely for your own entertainment, I think it signifies that something is wrong inside that person. And wrong in the way that persists, and not in the way where you grow out of it.

Certainly, you would need to demonstrate a level of repentance and commitment to reform that was orders of magnitude greater than what this kid did.

After the backlash the last couple days there’s no way this Miller kid is signed

His hockey career is probably over

so all the hE wAs OnLy 14 people can stuff a sock in it. He was still doing it at 16.

To answer #2 it would be nice for him to actually be sorry or have any form of remorse for his actions which it seems he has neither

People talk about about the top 15 NHL players of all time. Here's my list in no order: ;)

Mark Messier
Brian Leetch
Rod Gilbert
Frank Boucher
Andy Bathgate
Bill Cook
Jean Ratelle
Brad Park
Henrik Lundqvist
Mike Richter
Ed Giacomin
Bryan Hextall
Harry Howell
Vic Hadfield
Adam Graves
Wtf. What about BUN Cook!?!?!?
Man alive!

The funny thing is that if it never got into the public discourse, he would have had a normal career since pretty much every level of the hockey world swept the interaction under the rug.

The Coyotes, UND, the USHL, etc.

Poor showing for multiple levels of junior and pro hockey, again, and now they plan on parading him around as a prop on a PR tour of "let's promote how we're fighting against injustice and for equality"

So bravo to the Arizona reporters on this one.

I don’t know where ya’ll grew up, but when I was that age the worst thing kids did was throw Hostess cakes at the bathroom wall lol.

White trash south shore of Long Island guy here - man I saw some horrific bullying from 14-17... and I didn't get it bad, but I saw some shit.

The worst bully I ever saw, he tortured kids, mentally disabled kids, you name it. When he was in his twenties he got paralyzed from the waist down in a car wreck...

I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but when that happened, I couldn't help but think about that heavy dose of karma served up right there ...

Hope this miller kid never makes a dime off of his 'skill'.

Can’t post this on the main board.

I don’t exactly understand why Byfield is such a great prospect that he might be better than laff.

I mean isn’t anyone concerned his size is a big factor why he pushed over kids in juniors? People talk about him like an auto superstar on the Kings

People like to go against the grain + he’s a center.

I think there's two major factors.

1. Lafreniere fatigue. Lafreniere has been the conseus top guy in this draft class for about as long as this draft has been talked about, and inevitably that leads to over scouting on the part of some. Byfield is a guy who hasn't been around as long, and there is far less tape of him for scouts to comb over every detail of.

2. Byfield is significantly younger than Laf, so there's a LOT of projection with what he could potentially be if he puts all of his tools together at the NHL level. I can see some of the logic in these arguments, but I think Laf is clearly the better prospect either way. I think there's a small chance that Byfield could eventually surpass Laf, but I wouldn't bet on it. I understand the logic, though.

I was just thinking of it, and its a short list, but is there any nation better than Russia in net right now? Vasilevsky, Shestyorkin, Bobrovski, Samsonov, Varlamov, with Sorokin and Askarov on the way
