Yeah I mean you knew that was coming

Too much heat came down on the Coyotes when it's the last thing they need.

I wasn't aware you could just renounce a pick, I figured they would just not sign him when the time came

Possibly the best decision they could make going forward with the backlash that would come from having him in the system.

Quick note: Friedman using ARIZ and CAL instead of ARI and CGY for Arizona and Calgary has annoyed me for years and when I asked him about it at the draft last year he laughed

I don't think there is anything in the CBA about grievances/renouncing rights for non-SPC players.

Trying to look through the CBA and the MOU right now but not turning up anything.

This is probably a thing they went directly to Bettman/Daly about.

As a hockey player Bobby Hull was something of a primadonna as in he thought he should be untouchable. He would often be in the press bemoaning other teams for checking him close or putting a shadow on him--or whenever another team had a tougher lineup than his he would carp about physical play too. Always whining--always not getting paid enough or not getting enough respect from the opposition. Before Mario came along he was the ultimate diva.

Everything I've heard about Bobby Hull suggests that he was a giant piece of shit

I'm anticipating someone from the Coyotes to be fired over this. They simply have to find a scapegoat. Otherwise this is going to hang over the brand new shiny CEO's head forever.

Going from getting fined for attempting to do additional scouting, to having to renounce a draft pick due to not doing enough scouting, is a very impressive effort...
It wasn’t about not doing enough scouting. They knew everything they know now. They just didn’t anticipate the backlash.
