It just feels like with the exception of Tampa, which resembles a hospital wing right now, everyone else is so mediocre.

It just feels like one of those years where a decade from now you may have to google who won the cup in 2020. Because other than Tampa, I don't if any of the other choices would stand out as a "great" team.
I don't think Vegas is mediocre on the ice. If you're looking at their roster, yeah it's true you don't see the elite names. Definitely similar for NYI as well. Had the same thing last year with St. Louis. Nature of the sport as opposed to the NBA, for example, where you can load up with a few superstars and make parade preparations in October. Not nearly as extreme in the MLB/NFL but I still don't think you experience to the same degree the phenomenon where teams with well-executed systems, effective coaching and balance can regularly outplay other teams who have more superstar talent.

Happy Dallas won and hope they close it out. They're the only of the four teams I can stomach winning the Cup

I would agree about saying mediocre.

But they also don't jump out at me as a team really feels like a champion right now.

At this point, in the last 12 days they've been shut out twice, scored two goals or less against an actual goalie like 6 times I think.

They've scored 10 goals in their last 7 games, and that includes 2 empty netters.

I understand what you're saying, but I think it's the wrong year for this analogy.

If the Isles won The Cup, Trotz strolls into the Hall of Fame. He’s probably already there but they indict him the day of the parade if he wins with the Isles.

He's a good coach but his teams have generally been knocked out in the 1st or 2nd round. The only 2 years his teams have had any real playoff success is this year and when he won the cup with Washington. He's had many more years when his teams have had disappointing performances.

yawn. click bait Larry. There is nothing of substance in that article.
Imagine believing that if the Rangers re-sign DeAngelo and extend him long term they would then let Lundkvist walk away as a UFA rather than trade him for a haul

Also, how have I never heard of Korbinian Holzer, he's played over 200 games since 2010?

Larry is saying the Rangers brass “is” shopping DeAngelo for a 2C (or “will”). Not “should”. I’m not a fan of his but Larry is connected and good about distinguishing fact from opinion.

The risk of Lundkvist not signing with the Rangers due to a logjam at RD is interesting but not sure how real. And there is room at LD with or without Miller.

All I know is that if the Rangers move DeAngelo they better get the return right and be right about Lundkvist’s development curve.

Edge hung out with some Rangers guys last night and posted a synopsis of it a few pages back on the Roster Building thread.

I think the conclusion on ADA was that they weren't shopping him, but would listen to offers and there has been some interest. The preference is to sign him to a two year deal until Lundkvist has shown how he is going to fit in.

Yeah, this is BS

Speculation yet he pointing out a log jam. This team does need a Center to develop or be obtained IMO. If Zibby ever went down, whoa.

Yeah, this is BS

Yeah that part of the article was confusing.

Even if Nils did straight up decide that he'll hang in Sweden until 2022 and sign where ever he wants to as a UFA (and I don't see any reason to believe this is the case), the Rangers would trade him before it even got to that point and there would be no shortage of interest there.

I’d describe it as in between “available” and “actively shopping”.

I believe the Rangers are going to spend a lot of time going over ADA trades, and I think they’d be pleased if it’s a situation they can solve this offseason. But like Larry said in the article, there’s no rush. If we don’t find a good fit we can keep him.
