Lou was named GM of the year...gorton finished 8th with 2 3rd place votes

I'm really not sure what the voting for gm is based on though...Lou brought in greene and pageau at the deadline, signed komarov last year and this year signed brassard and varlamov (to downgrade from lehner). but I'm pretty sure that everyone else on the roster was with the team before he got there. and isles weren't better this year than last...

i think its fairly normal for the current gm to get the credit/blame for the previous guy so no hate toward lou winning I just find it a bit of an odd award to judge since the work of a GM normally takes multiple years to be reflected good or bad.

When the Rangers start making their climb, Gorton will get his votes. Everyone in the league sees where the Rangers are heading.

Louie Lams is a brilliant GM..

If should be added to when as a keyword..

I think at this point, it would take one of the worst collapses in NHL history for them not to climb.

There's just too much talent there.

Now, whether or not they get stuck in the Boston/Tampa/Toronto realm of struggling to get to a cup finals is up for debate. But climbing is a pretty low bar IMO.

I think they have a much longer road to get where they're even considered to be in the conversation but we'll see..

Well, I never actually gave a timeline in my response. Though I will admit that this team could see significant progress next season if some guys don't backpeddle.

I'm certainly hoping for progress but keeping things in perspective just the same..

I didn't say he was or wassn't...it just seems weird to give the guy an award for the success of a team that he didn't build. but it was a comment about the award and judging a GM each year not specifically about Lou

Players going down like flies on every team except NYI. Gonna need Tampa to do what they need to do before the dream gets too long.

Dallas opting for Perry and Pavelski over Zucc is looking really smart. Gotta say.

No wonder the dude is salty.

The Rangers decided they were better off moving in a different direction.

The team he was traded to decided they were better off moving in a different direction.

And the team that offered him the best deal ended up sucking and probably wish they'd gone in a different direction.

It's hard not to take it personal.

And if this was a normal year the Piles were well on their way to missing the playoffs as they were playing like ass.

It just feels like with the exception of Tampa, which resembles a hospital wing right now, everyone else is so mediocre.

It just feels like one of those years where a decade from now you may have to google who won the cup in 2020. Because other than Tampa, I don't if any of the other choices would stand out as a "great" team.

Didn't Dallas offer him a decent deal? It seemed like they wanted to keep him.

I don’t mean they turned their back on Zucc. They, I think, offered him the same money but for one fewer season. But I’m sure they’re happy right now, is what I meant.
