why is Luke Schenn still in the NHL
Because he's obviously playing a meaningful role on a SC team..

Maybe not, but Barzal is probably the best puck-moving forward in the NHL sans McDavid. He’d be amazing in a system that actually prioritizes offense.
Let’s wait till they’re eliminated before writing their obituary.Isles have a horrible cap situation, a mediocre farm and were a bad team for most of the regular season.
They've been able to take advantage of a weird and unique situation and some favorable matchups. I'd bet on them missing the playoffs next year. They were well on their way to doing it this year and an already old team is going to be even older.
Point getting hurt and a questionable suspension are the only reasons why the Isles aren't finished yet.

This Isle's run feels a lot more like that Ottawa run than anything else

I think your blind hatred for certain things completely prevents you from forming a realistic opinion in reality.
The NYR have a salary cap nightmare on their hands too.
Favorable matchups?
They have a team of misfits and they're still hanging with arguably the best team in the league.
Sorry.. I'm just not getting your line of thinking and don't think I ever will..
They've had control for like 10% of this series by a team that hasn't gotten a healthy period out of their best player since early 2nd period of game 2. This series is the least the Bolts have been pushed by any of their opponents with out a healthy Point for most of it.
NYR salary cap is not a nightmare. They have almost double the space that the Isles do and don't have to sign their best player this offseason. Barzal is slated to take almost all of that money, and 2 of their top 4 D are also due contracts.
I know you love to gush about the Isles and everything they're doing, but it's clear to anyone who has been paying attention this year that this run is a fluke and their team isn't very good. Credit to them for taking advantage of it, but this won't happen again anytime soon unless they somehow find some suckers to take some of their horrendous multi year contracts off of their hands and they find some way to acquire actual difference makers (they don't really have the capital to do it.)
Good luck with that![]()
I think game 2 could have gone either way. I think the Islanders could have easily won that game. Some may say losing Point and Kilorn for pretty much entire game could have had something to with that which would be fair to say. They've been outplayed in all 4 games so far and generated almost nothing in this game (after a big win) until it was practically over.
They're cooked.
I have said that for a few years now...no reason why we can't have the best and largest most thorough scouting and coaching staff in the league . It's not like we don't have the money . The Sens have done well and scouting is always vital as is development which is equally important . Our next 2-3 drafts will be REALLY important and will determine our fate in the next 5-7 years when we have to have an influx of younger talent on cheap deals . Penguins won Cups bringing in young guys ....was not just their stars .I definitely don't disagree, last year or the year before I was saying the Rangers should flex their financial strength and just steal Ottawa's whole staff
Edit: not worth it

If both teams are at 100 percent ( I know that is impossible in playoffs) the Lighting win in 4 maybe 5.

The Islanders are only arguably the best player in the league right now away from winning the Cup?The Isles are only a "Point" or two away from becoming the next Boston IMO.
No I'm not a fan and despise both of these teams on a defcon 1 kind of level but you have to give credit where due.
On paper, this should've been a 4 game sweep..

The Knights were 1st in xGF%, Tampa 2nd, and Dallas 6th. Pretty satisfied with that.
The Islanders were 18th but Trotz breaks hockey, we've seen that before.

So are 20 other teams.
I don't really think they're holding their own, and I think everyone believes they're a mediocre team buoyed by their systemLook at this completely one- sided matchup.
It's David and Goliath x100.
Yet they're still holding their own.
Why can't you f***ers just admit that they're a good team led by solid coaching?
It's not that difficult an equation...
