Like who the hell decided that goalies should be evaluated by wins. Definitely must have started before curved stick blades or earlier.

GOALIES CANT SCORE GOALS

Its just part of the picture like anything else but is probably weighed too heavily. It’s like wins for a SP in baseball. Does it tell the whole story? No, DeGroms win total would be higher on the Yanks or Dodgers, but obviously if he rattled off 22 wins then it would show you that he pitches deep into games and keeps his team it when he might not have his best stuff.

Hayes has been their best forward in the playoffs. That tells you all that you need to know.

good effort by the Isles yet i don’t think they’re that good. Certainly playing as a team and that time off helped them.

Think Sakic could have used Kreider in this series?
Being risk-averse (aka ‘scared to take a chance’) always *appears* smart and is great for a GM’s job security, but it also leaves big holes. Same thing with the Leafs. I’d bet there’s a much higher percentage of Cup winners that took a big swing or two at the deadline. It might lead to some longterm pain but even when it fails, I respect the effort. Like with Columbus last year. Sure they didn’t win, but I bet most of their fans appreciated it.
I’m not saying mortgage the future but being completely risk-averse and unwilling to pay market value to fill holes is just blockheaded self-preservation.

Rutherford definitely started swinging as soon as the Penguins hired him and he got back to back cups right off the bat for it

2018- lost Round 1
2019 - won Round 1 lost in 7 to an OLD Sharks team
2020 - won against a team which was not a playoff team and now getting destroyed on the boards. They could have easily been swept.

they are young and developing. So long as losing this year is part of maturing i get it but they need to win a few Rounds next year. They’re likely looking for a Kreider type now.

I mean, they went out and got Kadri instead of Kreider
