Cute award  That is funny.
Yes overachieving. This philly team would have won the metro this year. An increase of over 20 points from the previous year. I am sure you expected them to make the ECF with a different coach this year right?

Yes they blew a 3-0 but did win the game. Torts and his amazing defensive Jackets blew a 3-0 lead with barely any time left in a game and then again late against tampa in an elimination game (2 goal lead i believe). It happens.

They completely controlled that Tampa game, not his fault that his goalie couldn't make a save. They didn't sit back and allow their opponent to basically throw a billion shots on net. Just because the end results were the same doesn't mean that the route that they took to get there were. If it all came down to bad breaks and crappy goaltending then yeah, can't put that on the coach. When you basically invite a team to take over a game because you think your lead is safe, thats bad coaching.

I don't know how Philly would have done with a different coach other than him this year, but they were over .500 under Gordon last season and they added some pieces this offseason. I do know a bunch of coaches who would do a better job than him in the playoffs though.

Hart gave up 3 pretty soft goals tonight.
I am pretty sure philly overachieved this year. In fact it was evident with pure silence from the AV haters all year long. He could have taken philly to game 7 of the SCF this year and he would still be considered a horrible coach.
Yeah I am not sure about a "bunch" of coaches considered the bias on here. Hard to debate the bias here when people feel a top 10 winningest coach Of all time is a bad coach (and could be top 5 when all said and done). Oh yeah and will be easy in the top 10 in NHL playoffs wins all time as well.

Having Luongo and Lundqvist for the majority of ones coaching career would allow anyone to rack up wins. Funny how that gets glossed over.

Hart gave up 1 soft goal tonight lol (the 2nd one.) The first one was a pass to an uncovered player from a high danger area (the AV special) and the 3rd was a deflection on the PP, which I almost never put on the goalie.

The Flyers came out on fire, scored first, and then basically went on cruise control the rest of the game. AV continuously tries to match up Nate Thompson against the Isles top line even though his team is getting KILLED out there when this happens. That is not good coaching.

Heres the thing though - AV and his Flyers will not be going to game 7 of the SCF. They were heavily outplayed by a Montreal team (who they beat thanks to some puck luck and playoff Price) that wasn't very deep and are getting thumped by an Islander team that isn't talented at all. If hes as good of a coach as you think he is, getting to the ECF should have been a cakewalk.

I hope the hundreds of Islanders fans in existence are enjoying this run because they're not going to see it for a looooooong time. Alexis Lafreniere and Kaapo Kakko will make Long Island their own personal playground.

If they overachieved it was because of AV. They weren’t riding insane SH% or SV% IIRC.

Like I said, he lifts you up and then lets you down.

I wouldn't even say its a run yet. They have won a total of 6 playoff games so far.

The Islanders only seem like they’re on a run relative to what they’re usually doing by the second round.

I still remember when winning 6 playoff games felt like a banal accomplishment as a Rangers fan. It was expected; a warm up for an actual run.

Flyers had the 4th highest sh% in the league this year.

SV% was 21st, but most of that was because of Brian Elliot who played 31 games and had a sub 900 sv%.

I'm not going to take anything away from them. They beat Florida; they beat Ovechkin and Washington; and they're ahead of AV, Dumb Face and the rest of those Philthy Phucks.

They played a lousy Florida team in a play in series so technically they have won only 6 playoff games as I stated and yes I will discredit them every chance I get.

But they were outplaying teams too. Now they’re just...terrible, puck luck or not.

For the last month of the season leading up to the pause, yeah, but that sample size isn't huge.

Post new years, they were on NYR level of xGF%. We went from almost league worst to slightly above league average. They're smack dab in the middle of xGF% for the regular season so it's not like they were housing everyone.

Cakewalk lol. The islanders smoked the Capitals. Only you think this would be a cakewalk. If that doesn't show bias i don't know what does.
Yes I've heard the goalie excuse a million times. I can use the fact he was missing/injured half a team against the bruins in the cup finals.
I don't have to believe he is a good coach. It is a fact he is a good coach. Its all in the facts. it will be in the record books when all said and done.

The third goal was not a deflection. Lee just backhanded it towards Hart and it went off harts stick and in. Hart stuck his stick out and deflected puck into the net. Completely stoppable just like the other two.

I don't know who in their right mind thinks that this Flyers team is an ECF team this year especially when Giroux and Voracek are playing worse than our 4th liners. Like i said crickets all year long.

This is why I hope they somehow make it to the ECF. Get the Isles out and then easy pickings for BOS/TAM. Not looking likely though.

The Caps had Holtby in net who has been awful for a while. Them losing is not that surprising.

His regular season resume was built on the backs of the 2 best goalies of the post lockout generation. That is fact. I've already said that his 2011 Cup final team would have won if they were healthy, the 2015 Rangers probably beat Tampa if they were healthy too. He was out coached in both series despite all of the injuries (Trying to force the Stepan to match up against Johnson's line even though they got slaughtered in this situation. Brass' line killed Johnsons line when they were out there at the same time but nope, gotta stick with Stepan because, reasons. Tanner Glass was also out there vs Stamkos and crew for the game winners in game 5 and 7. Those were home games.)

He's a guy who has been unbelievably lucky to have the goalies he has had. They're the only reason he's still working as a head coach in this league. At the end of the day, he's a guy who still makes the same mistakes that he was making 10 years ago and they continue to lead to sub par post season performances by a team that really should be doing much better than they are. Its not just the Islander Series here, Montreal put it on Philly too and that team, while not a great matchup for him, are not that good.

That Philly-Isles series is basically a game of one of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong. What a shit series unbecoming of the ECSF.
