It'll be interesting to see what happens with Pietrangelo and Hall. I expect they'll make big money but not as much as they would have. Teams just aren't going to have as much cap space. I was wondering if the NHL was going to do a buyout thing but I think that has to be worked out with the NHLPA and would have been worked out in the new CBA agreement if they were going to. Maybe I'm wrong about that though.

I expect Toronto to keep making room in case the Blues can’t lock up Pietrangelo.

Ah yes, so they can have 5 players locked up for 52m$ on the cap. At least Matthews, Marner and Nylander's contracts won't have NTC/NMC until their last year. That Tavares contract though ...

.... scratching my head. Are we the only team that hands out NTC/NMC like it's f***ing candy?

those clauses aren't allowed on RFA years so Matthews, Marner and Nylander aren't eligible. they all have clauses later in their deals in the years it is allowed.

that was in reply to the nonsense comment about us being the only team that gives them out...matthews and marner would have them on every year of their contracts if the leafs were allowed.

This is also why Stepan had a clause only starting in year 3 of his current contract

Man that was an embarrassment of a goal. 5 bruins standing within 3 feet of each other and palat scores a tap in right in front? Brutal.

Good for Alain to defend himself. After the emotions went down after his firing, I thought it was great that he gave that speech defending himself to the NY media and NYR fans.

It was a clown move by a clown coach.

He was lucky he lasted as long as he did. He had no business keeping his job after the way the 2017 season ended.

His tenure was the management's mistake. Clown coaching towards the end there but too many coaches get ripped apart like they're not fit to coach drop in hockey before they're fired and too few coaches ever get to respond and stand up for themselves. Like, it was great when Dan Boyle called out Brooksie and Step getting upset too. Everyone is always apologizing the moment there's heat but between this and Gallagher comments, he's standing his ground if he's not wrong and that's better than some half baked apology.

Yea I wouldn't loot to Toronto as a standard of negotiating contracts. The Matthews deal is a joke and hurt the league.
