Rutherford must be banking on Matheson bouncing back because from what I can remember from the play-in round Panthers fans were eviscerating him and I read a lot of complaints during the regular season as well. I heard rumors of Pittsburgh wanting to sign Tanev but even with Schultz leaving I don't know where they're going to play all these guys unless someone is bought out. The Pens right now look kind of thin on the wings too so I wonder if they'll be looking for free agent scoring.

Mike Matheson is like the most anonymous full time player in the league. I like to think of myself as a hockey enthusiast and well informed about teams and players around the league. When the Panthers announced they signed this guy to an 8 year contract a few years back, my first reaction was "who tf is Mike Matheson?" And I wasn't alone.

Stamkos looks good in this game. He always seem to get hurt or have freakish injuries. Glad he scored. Good player.

Gauthier should be a terror on the forecheck with his size and speed. He seems to lack aggressiveness though.

The problem is that I don't believe that he's talented enough to survive in the league as a finesse player.
 
I felt the refs were poor in that period. Tampa seemed to get away with borderline picks, trips and hooks but the same borderline plays by Dallas were called. Overall, Dallas was much better. I don’t care if stuff doesn’t get called, but then that Kiviranta interference and the fake Radulov hook at the end there shouldn’t be called either.
 
If Tampa wins the cup it will be in spite of Shattenkirk.

Even though the cap hit stings I'm relieved he's no longer on the Rangers.
