Well I would imagine Bergevin talked to Julien before the trade was made. Domi pretty much played himself into the doghouse in the playoffs. That said the quarantine thing and Domi's diabetes issue might have had some effect on him too. I use to want Domi by the way but that ship has sailed. As far as DeAngelo I think we're moving him but whatever attitude issues he may have had never really arose as a problem since he's been with the Rangers or at least I don't think so. Mind you he's got political takes that I really don't care for but it's not like they've ever really became issues here.

I'll also say Anderson is my kind of player. He's a throwback who plays with real purpose and he's tough and 27 goals is still pretty good.

I agree with all of that. And that’s kind of my point with DeAngelo. Got moved a couple of times but out grew whatever issues he had with rumors of slurs being used or getting suspended and has settled into a valuable role. I think Domi can do the same. Doesn’t mean he will, but I lean towards him figuring it out. It’s not like he’s on a downward trajectory. He had a single down season on a very bad Montreal team, coming off of 72 points. I think he’ll be a legitimate top six weapon for the middle portion of his career. I also hadn’t even thought of Covid and diabetes effecting his playoffs.

Regarding Anderson, I agree as well, but he’s a big risk to not bounce back from this surgery and had an abysmal year (missed most of it, so I get it, but still riskier than Domi who is at least basically a 50 point lock already). 27 goals is very good. I doubt he’s ever that close to 30 again, personally. I won’t be surprised if he never hits 25 again. Low 20s, sure, and that’s still valuable, but I don’t think he’s a guy who puts up 25+ with regularly.

Now that the Coyotes have put Grabner on buyout waivers, if the price and term is right, I wouldn't mind at all bringing Grabner back for some 4th line action and head up the penalty kill.

He was great when he was here. And besides that and more importantly, we do need a guy with some tattoos...lol

I’m a great skater with plenty of tattoos and great facial hair. League minimum two way deal, I’m yours.

great deal for the Caps, Dillon is very good and that contract is super reasonable.

caution - he’s three years older and has done almost nothing since the NYR. Proceed with caution

The team to watch today is Vegas. They are almost $3MM over the cap and other than Fleury, they have no other obvious cap dumps. You wonder what it’s going to cost them to get someone to take some or all of that contract. There’s no way they are going to be able to bid on Pietrangelo. They only have one arbitration eligible player so they won’t be able to play in the second buyout window.

Once the Fleury deal is settled, then you can start thinking about the possibility of a DeAngelo trade. The one thing that may get in the way is that Fleury may end up going to Minnesota and that deal could expand to include Matt Dumba.

I’d be surprised if they don’t send Stastny with retention somewhere as a one year stop gap 2C. That would clear some room. If Minnesota adds Fleury (seems likely with Guerin in charge - they won a Cup together), and they move Dumba in the process, they’ll have moved Kunin, Donato and Dumba to bring in Bonino and Fleury. That’s a team that should be getting younger, not older.

They're going to have to do something big.

My theory is that they're using the prospect of AP as a negotiating tactic in trades. Just seems damn near impossible to do barring some major moves in the next hour.

Edit: Oops. They still have Reid with arb rights. Forgot about him.
