He’s such an unbelievably nice guy when I met him. Honestly him and Lou were the 2 shockers...I expected them both to be jerks. Lou sat and talked to a rangers fan with a young kid for a good 10 mins while signing everything he gave him. Cooper spent about as much time as jd did with the fans of all the teams.

cooper is the 1 guy I’m very happy for.

It's always interesting to me to see which people get vilified and which are praised.

Especially if I am familiar with them, it can almost be like reading about someone I've never met.

Well during his 2nd tenure, Messier was a cancer to the team and horrible for the young players as he kept them down. Such a selfish and horrible person. :sarcasm:

@NYR

That's just disgusting and that cup looks way too heavy for him.

I'm surprised his team mates didn't help him carry it much in the way they carried his ass all the way to the
finals.

Of all people, I can't believe that doesn't piss you off.

F him..He was way out of shape and showed up like all the other fat cat UFA's of the past.

He did us dirty..

McD on the other hand?
Hard working player and class act.
I couldn't be more happy for him.

It's too bad G couldn't have been there..

Well the Italian league is facing its first crisis, half the Genoa team tested positive. NFL also, with the Titans and Vikings. Baseball managed to make it through the summer but there were bumps in the road for sure.

Yeah, but is it worth it to cancel big parts/the whole season due to a few bumps? It’s the same in Sweden. Some teams have had problems putting a healthy team on the field. But it’s like any other injury bug. I saw interviews with a soccer team that had big problems, they said that basically all players that tested positive were so healthy that they would have played if it wasn’t Covid. Players are back after a week of no/very mild symptoms. Young healthy people don’t get very sick most of the time. There have been a few exceptions, but it’s not lethal.

Meh. Shattenkirk looked very good at the beginning of his first season, then he busted his knee and looked bad because of it until they finally shut him down January when it was beyond obvious it should've happened a lot sooner.

No ill will from me toward him.

Shattenkirk shows up out of shape as a Ranger and looks absolutely nothing like the #1D so many people assured us he was. Gets bought out and finds a sheltered role on a stacked team and wins a cup. What's with this weird undercurrent of "Told ya so" going on in this thread? Shattenkirk is exactly the player most of us thought we were getting and why so many of us wanted to avoid him in free agency.

Shattenkirk and Kreider of almost of the same kind.
They both show up guns a blazin in the beginning then tail off as the season goes on.

Only difference is that Kreider is better at defense lol

showing up out of shape is on him...but he was never a #1D. he is a good player when healthy but 1D was setting the bar too high, so thats on the fans more than him..

as for the 'told ya so' are you new here? lol half the time i wonder if people are secretly happen when players are bad so they can say they were right LOL

I have experienced both the Rangers winning the Cup and being right and being right is the better feeling.

What about a meniscus tear that limits your off-ice training?

You aren't suffering no meniscus tear if you show up in shape.
He was chasing the f***ing world for a puck and got beat out by rookies who were in better shape than him.
Stop making excuses!

then he should have not played until completely healthy, no matter how long that took. why hurt the team by playing hurt especially if you're out of shape where you can't train like he normally would. a NHL veteran should have known better especially since he knows his body.

That first picture of McDonagh is incredible - probably new avi material for a bit until we get Lafreniere.

I'm so f***ing happy for McDonagh. The guy is an absolute animal on the ice, and he was so fun to watch growing into his own as a Ranger. I'm so happy for Shatty too proving everyone who doubted him wrong. The dude blew his knee out here and everyone was jumping down his throat for not playing up to his expectations.
Well if that pic just doesn’t feel like a kick in the nuts.

Yeah, blame him instead of the freakin medical staff.

I wonder how Zuccarello feels about not signing in Dallas now. he must love Minnesota and that extra year :sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm:

That extra year is going to pay him 6 million dollars. That's more than most make in a lifetime. I don't blame him one bit for taking that extra year on what will probably be his last contract.

I see some people are bitching about Shattenkirk winning a Cup. Don't blame Gorton for handing out the contract and creating a cap situation that forced the buy out, or the coaching staff for not using him right. No, blame the player who had the audacity to sign a contract offering 26m over 4 years. How dare you, Kevin!

And he probably could have gotten 6 mil for 6 years on the open market instead of just 4 with the Rangers.
